Listen to what Corbyn says, not how it's reported by the Tory press, and you will see there is already a very effective opposition. There are now two real options, rather than just one that we had before. A lot of Labour MPs are really Tory left, and it will take some time for that to change. Nearly all media comment needs cleaning to rid it of right wing bias, which is hard to do all the time, but remember to try, at least some of the time. Hopefully, a strong left wing media outlet will develop over the next few years. In the meantime, read the Morning Star sometimes to get some balance. PS like the new forum, hope it goes from strength to strength Hi olirow! Welcome. I agree with all that. And up until very recently, would have said exactly the same. But I now worry that there won't be much left for him or Labour to defend if they can't win at the next election. In the BBC, we have a strong, unbiased media outlet that gets equal criticism from both sides (a good sign) which also has the benefit of being accessible to everyone in the country (and beyond) but it will be gone by the time the next election rolls round.

Scenario: Cameron won't stand for PM again. He'll have had enough in about 18 months' time and will instead seek to invest George Osborne as bastard in chief. Which is why the budget largely consisted of political grandstanding rather than actual policy. However, Boris won't stand for it and will mount a coup, wresting control from Osborne whom everyone, even within his own party by then agrees is an odious little prick. And between Boris and Trump we end up with the two most ridiculous, bloviating hair-cuts since the reformation in charge of the English speaking world. The inevitable nuclear armageddon would come as a blessed relief.

The inevitable nuclear armageddon would come as a blessed relief. Well we know that Dave won't stand for PM again as he has always said he will only do a max of 8 years (he wants to remove the "power corrupts" argument) . It is clear that both Boris and George want his job and George has Dave's backing which Boris isn't happy about but Boris's new mate Ian has spat his dummy out at George and that has upset George, who went crying to Dave, Dave said "But why Ian? I thought you loved me?". Boris is happy with Ian, Ian knew he wouldn't have a job if George got the job but he will get a decent one with Boris if Boris get the job. Meanwhile, Tim is in the corner wondering where all his mates are and why doesn't anyone ring me anymore? Jeremy and John have found a very interesting working party/think tank and are having great fun talking about whether a spanner with a comfortable handle is a luxury item or not. (before I get in trouble for taking the piss I am on the left, but it is so frustrating that they haven't found 1st gear yet) Nicola is happy, "Everyone loves me, I'm so lovely, I have soooo many friends" Makes you think of

Are you sure you don't want Trump? I'd be willing to throw in everyone he's debated. Idiocracy, who knew that ten years from the release of the movie, that satire would turn to reality. m.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/

If Trump by some weird horrible fate wins, can you imagine the please take my wife jokes turning into please take my president jokes? I am coming across the pond in a bit over a month to visit a friend who is semi, probably not really, retired in the Shetlands, and am already preparing my, 'We are not all insane in the states....' Am hoping to not get sick on the ferry... Used to not be an issue, but age changes everything it seems. On a serious note, should my worst fears be recognized, will someone help me get refugee status if needed?

We even have a spare room should you need it. There will be bunks in there though as I've made the same offer to pretty much every US person I know. Only my cousin's husband would choose to remain state-side I think.

Pretty darn pleased with Glasto line up - sadly no Bjork. But Sigur Ros!! Delighted to see Baaba Maal and Rokia Traore; John Grant, Beck and a few others.

Thanks, though rereading some of the posts again, it would almost seem we have the same people running for high office. Sorry but our "Right Winger Nutters" would come across as quite nicely balanced "Right of centre Democrates" over there and wouldn't support the right for everyone to carry a gun and kill whoever they want, particularly if that person steps on their lawn!! I too would support your refugee status Zenrider, but just don't think you can bring any guns in, not even that tiny little one We all know Americans are the biggest killers in the World, so if coming here or to Europe be peaceful If you look at the deaths per 100,000 by Gun in US in a year (2014) 10.54 people per 100.000 vs UK 0.23 so if you are US citizen you are nearly 46 times as likely to be a killer as a UK citizen.................. maybe we should vet carefully

Not sure we are the worst killers, some Mexican cartels make Al Capone look like he was a nice guy.
Careful, they may not be infiltrating the UK yet, but the NRA (National Rifle Association, or as I prefer to call them No Reason Allowed) are looking to establish themselves in Russia. Until then I'm sure we will remain the country with the most parents shot, and sometimes killed by their toddlers.
Sadly, fear and panic seem to sell easier, then peace and calm.
