Just wanted to throw in, Senator Durbin would not make up what Trump said in the immigration meeting.
My guess is Trump believes all older white men are racists like he is. Imagine his surprise when Senator Durbin called him out on it.

Had to look up Dick Durbin as never heard of him before. Plenty of right wing sites accusing him of lying over the years. Glad this does not deter him from speaking out, sounds like a good un, prepared to speak out despite the consequences.

Dick is tough and stands for his convictions. He was one of the 26 (out of 100) senators that voted no to the Iraq war.
As it is, conservatives may accuse him of lying, but the facts tend to back Senator Durbin up. Sadly, the conservative base doesn't seem to care much about facts. Especially, when they are not convenient.

Inequality gap widens as 42 people hold same wealth as 3.7bn poorest
Above is a headline from today’s Guardian. It also goes on to say just 8 billionaires hold the same wealth as 50% of the world population.
Imagine a sci fi film where we came across an alien civilisation which had the same ratio, the plucky earth explorers (Captain Kirk, Pickard or whoever) would know this is wrong and encourages a rebel alliance to overthrow the corrupt hierarchy and create a fairer world.
In reality, it is allowed to carry on and we encourage it by not using our power over the ballot box. Although actually we are conned into lettin* it happen! Trump produces a tax deal that makes the wealthy better off, it was reported that he will now be paying a lower tax rate than the lowest paid in America. We voted for Brexit where many politicians relish a low tax rate (for the rich and corporations) economy once we are out of Europe. And all round the western world we are building walls and demonising migrants, because they desire the opportunity to move to a land where there is money that can be earned if given the opportunity to work.
My Monday morning rant after reading the guardian is now over
