Oh well Womadders. Is it time to cut off the wristband and uninstall the app? I thought the app was good and I used it lots. I kept my paper programme in pristine condition. Not sure if I need to buy one again😳

I have removed my wristband because they accidentally put it on circulation-cutting tight! I was told it could only be replaced if I could find a pair of scissors for them to cut it off. By the time we had unpacked the scissors and walked back 20mins to the entrance, the queue was stupidly long so I didn't bother. Steve will be wearing his for at least another week....month....year?
I loved the app. I am not usually an app person but I thought it was brilliant - worth replacing my phone and getting a gmail account for! I used it all weekend. Still bought a real programme as a souvenir but kept it wrapped and in pristine condition during the weekend

The wristband is still on and will remain so until it becomes a nuisance. We were warned by the lovely ladies who put ours on that once tightened they could not be loosened, so mine is still comfortable. I agree with you both that the app was brilliant this year. It was so much more useful than last year's badly thought out offering. I didn't deface my programme either (I usually ring my must sees in biro) and think that it may be made redundant in years to come....although could I resist having one for memories sake? Probably not!

One of the attractions of Womad weekend for us is no phones - we turn them off.
Much that I like apps and all their usefulness for Womad I much prefer the paper programme - the feel of the paper and the gorgeous printed paper smell of it Also makes useful fan or impromptu sun shade for a sleepy headed arboretum kip.
We used to just use printed out clash finder but now no going back from the programme and all its loveliness. 😉

I had no warning about my wristband - the young lad doing the wristbands put it on, tightened it right up....then asked if it was comfortable after the point of no return! It wasn't but as the deed was done I was stuck with it!

Ig - totally with you on the no phone thing. Too easy to pick it up and get sucked into the work-world, and my aim is to turn off that whole part of my brain for the duration. I bought a cheapncheerful pocket watch and printed out the timetables, then scribbled my notes on. Apps are fine but I want to annotate. So my phone stayed turned off and in the car. One less thing to lug around - good, as my kitchen sink is quite heavy enough :-)

I cut off the wristband as soon as I got home as I usually do and discard it. I found the app pretty useful and easier to locate the timetable to find where I was heading next as opposed to the programme which I generally left in my day back when I was within the arena.
There is definitely place for app and programme. I have circled the acts who I saw as I will forget who I saw

I didn't use the app as it wanted permissions I didn't think it needed. I've taken off my wristband and put it in a box with the rest. I keep meaning to tie them all to one of the guy ropes on my tent.
I marked the acts on the lanyard I wanted to see and kept the programme in good nick. Both will be kept in the box with the others, set lists, posters, and other random memorabilia from gigs and festivals.

I had no warning about my wristband - the young lad doing the wristbands put it on, tightened it right up....then asked if it was comfortable after the point of no return! It wasn't but as the deed was done I was stuck with it! Very bad design at fault here. Our 5 year old pulled his wristband too tight not just once but twice. The first time it had to be 'surgically removed' in a delicate operation by bemused stewards on the park and camp gate with tiny scissors from a sewing kit. The second time it was ok but then he tugged at mine. Luckily mine was ok but I will be mentioning this to the Womad Pixies via Facebook as I understand that this happened to a lot of children. I dowloaded the app intending to use it but my daughter's 7 months pregnant and needed lots of help so I missed almost everything I wanted to see. Oh well, there's always next year

Cal was able to slip her wristband on an off over the weekend and she took if off permanently when we had finished packing the car is it was irritating her skin
Del took his off this afternoon as he was going for a swim
as for the app, Del never used it as was trying saving his battery power

App was brilliant and worked well for me but must say I have a collection of chargers which I was using to keep the battery going. This is cheaper in the long run than using the battery charger service although these sounded good if affordable. That said, battery charge on my phone became a high importance as I had som pe family emergency phone calls to make/receive. Wrist band comes off as soon as I get home, it is a tough task to do, a bit like sumo wrestlers removing their hair top knot when they retire and perform an emotional ceremony.

Wrist band is still on and will remain on for as long as possible. But I agree, it does seem to get tighter over the weekend. If it does get to the circulation cutting point, you shouldn't have to have to go all the way back to one of the entry gates. According to one of my shift supervisors, we were supposed to send anyone with that kind of issue to the Welfare tent in the first instance. But definitely feed this back to WOMAD, they need to know.
As for the app, I didn't get to use it as my phone battery kept dying regularly. Oh well maybe next year.

But definitely feed this back to WOMAD, they need to know. Done via FB post and they've acknowledged it. Thanks for the advice though

Full English at the first services on the M5 going north and the dangling end was getting in my egg yolks so I tried to push the band up my wrist and it just tightened and was bloody uncomfortable all the way home. Could be very dangerous for the small kids.
