Friends, don't forget friends. If you do, there usually are some to be found where there are people camping...

Had a thought, to those cleaning tents. You may want to set up and test it's waterproofing. Unless you use mild, or made for tents cleaners, there may be a chance you need to retreat the waterproofing. Best to find out now than in the middle of a storm during WOMAD. Also, my usual reminder to make sure any ground cloth (tarp/canvas) placed under your tent does NOT extend out from under the tent. Unless, of course, you like sleeping in a puddle. Lessons learned the hard way a long, long time ago. Keeping the bottom of the tent clean is not nearly as important as keeping you and your sleeping bags, etc. dry.

Yup & if (like me) - your footprint isn't a posh "custom made" one - but a large tarp folded to size - either cut it to fit or make sure the fold goes underneath & down hill otherwise the water will collect & your tent will be a giant water bed that seeps up through your tent groundsheet & under your air bed & you'll end up crawling underneath a fully pitched tent in the p***ing rain & mud to try & sweep out the excess water and refold the tarp the right way... on second thoughts... just cut it to size beforehand m'kaay!! 😝

we had to rewater proof our tent a few years ago
it was easy to find the right water proofing mix online and we then took out tent to a local car park on a sunday morning when it was empty, in the end it was easy to do
we use an old tunnel tent which is has loads of room and Del can stand up in it the side walls are not attached to the floor sheets and we have to be careful that they get caught in the rain.
we also bought a carpet lining which fits nicely in out tent so we have something warm and softish to walk on
we when out old tent finally give up the ghost, the new tent will will go for will probably have a ground sheet attached to the falls (and be a damn sight easier to put up)

Hello, just checked back and it's been almost a year since I posted in this thread. Bought a new tent at the end of last year, very pleased with it but haven't used it yet. Yes, I know it's a big space for just one person, but I have a lot of camping kit to store. Getting very excited as festival season looms. Africa Oye this weekend, but no camping just a two day festival in Sefton Park, Liverpool. Anyway, have a decco at the video and tell me what you think.

That is a lovely tent PD. I really like the blacked out bedrooms (nice and cool in the morning sun) and the hinged door. If we were still in a tent, I'd be experiencing full on tent envy having watched that!!!! You're not having to lug it on public transport though are you?

Yes - nice tent! I've got black-out envy! My little 4-man tent has a blackout bedroom, great ventilation etc - but we've outgrown it as a family - I'm going to miss that aspect of it for sure!

Lovely tent, we also have a Colemans, similar to yours but I'd guess an older version. We love it, we don't have the black out bedrooms but ours is the same pod, we rarely use the dividing wall. Love the hinged door, that will safe a lot of hassle getting in and out when it's raining. Brilliant buy, ours is the best tent we have owned

Love the black out on the bedroom area, must keep the tent much cooler in the day time as well as almost total blackness at night. Not really green with envy 🤢

Did buy a fondue set in a local charity shop today. Well, it was cheap and I thought might try it with a solid alcohol burner. Give it a go, only a couple of quid lost if does not work but should be able to do noodles with it 😛

Pool noodles reduced to £3 in Tesco today so very excited to announce that our "facilities" will be receiving an "upgrade" this year! 😝
