My current camping rig. The Beast is starting to get tired, but she'll still get you where you want to go and carries the camper just fine. Camper roof needs some maintenance, new seals around the AC unit, but no complaints. The Beast does have a knack for finding great views. Attachments:

I've got a small (3 people if they're willing to get cosy) Eurohike tent which suits my needs just fine as I need something I can easily carry on public transport. I've got a small stove for a coffee in the morning. A genuine Trangia which is brilliant. They are much faster than the types with open burners. I've just picked up a foldling camp bed. It packs down very small and weighs about 1.5kg. Further reports after it's been field tested at Green Man but initial thoughs are favourable after a quick assemble, lie down and disassemble in my flat.

I confess to having a tent fetish. I have a Quecha XXL 4 person in the bedroom, my current Coleman Instant Tourer 4 with awning under the stairs and small 4 person and a 2 person amongst the dust and cobwebs in the loft. There's also another two in Mum's garage. OMG I have 6 tents , do you think I need therapy? standing stone I was looking at the Coleman Octagonal tent reviews a couple of days ago and was put off by a comment saying they were draughty. They do look great though.

No but I have put it up in the lounge today to check it over in time for Shambala. A little bird told me that when a certain young man was a toddler he used to sleep in his tent in his room. He's 25 now and well known to some of you here

Jute string is handy indeed, Cal N Del - H ties the garden stakes together with it to make the flagpole; flag is made from the canvas of an old expired tent embellished with scraps of expired festivel clothing from the old Reading days! A jute washing line would be good if there were stable things in the tent to tie it to; we don't have anything that does the job there. Tea towels get hung on the gazebo rail for quick drying during the day in good weather. The Octagonal has been reluctantly set aside from the running now, PD; fab tent for balmy summers evening with no chance of rain or wind......... but not for the camping we do; we really need 5000 or more hydrostatic head, and definitely not draughty! Incidently, I had a lovely chat with a lady in the loo queue by the Open air stage on the Sunday night who is your twin, I asked whether she was Purpledawn, but no.... maybe next year! Enjoy Shamballa - seems like you could do with a festival to enjoy doing exactly what you want to do and when to do it - you're not getting that at Womad these past few years...

The air-bed scoopy sofa thing was a success. Four children wrestled on it for 20 mins and it held up just fine. You need some space to run around to put it up or a windy day, mind. And I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a bad back, nor much desire to maintain your dignity as getting in and out can be a challenge, especially with two. Good fun though. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Easy-Inflatable-Air-Lounger-Sofa-Lazy-Beach-Festival-Blow-Up-With-Carry-Bag-/331925281506?var=&hash=item4d4849dae2:m:m9j7RCTl2pwdaFW_qPOA36gWow Zen. Love the picture of the Beast in her natural habitat. Photos like that make me very jealous to be this side of the pond. I love my trips stateside--I have family in Washington and Phoenix. Looking forward to a trip in a couple of years if everything goes to plan. When we were shopping for a tent a few years back the guy in one shop said you should consider a "berth" to be one person OR their gear and that this is never properly explained.

I'm intrigued, I wonder who that was? This is me having a blue rather than purple day. You're right about needing to do what I want and not what others need me to do. Fingers crossed and thanks for the good wishes.

Well, I'm even more certain you have a twin now, PD; her hair was purple and flatter though!
