Del had a very interesting and long chat with Gregg Lawson of the Grit Orchestra this evening.
He told Del the current plans for the Orchestra and it looks like in St Andrew's week (around the 30th of November) they will do a 3 date tour of England (London, Manchester and Birmingham).
In 2018 they will open Celtic Connections with a massive even in the Glasgow Hydro.
The Orchestra will also be open to submission from any musical back ground and will his the submitter to develop their ideas and they will for the basis of the opening Gala of the 2019 Celtic connections
The Orchestra may also go global with invitation for the whole Orchestra to play New Zealand and France. Gregg also thinks a core of around 14 muisicans could tour and play with musicians and other orchestras around the world creating new Grit Orchestras wherever they go.
Gregg would also use local traditional musician too and when Del mentioned using throat singers Del told him he knew a band of throat singers
Del and Gregg talked about loads of things around the funding and and how to stage events, Del ended up passing on his email address and hopefully Gregg will be in touch so they can continue their conversation.
