Well that's where I disagree....the countdown should be just that and everything else should be in a proper titled thread so as not to confuse newcomers (and me). I've never understood why the chat goes on in the bloomin countdown thread!!! Right, off to retrieve my teddys thrown out of my pram I feel the same PD - that thread's never ending jumble of overlapping conversations has always eluded my casual comprehension... dipping in and trying to follow is all but impossible.... but that is its charm - I guess. ahhhh I see where your problem is PD and Beef, your "dipping" when you should be "diving" Try diving in, it works

You've nailed it, Mr Beef - that is indeed its charm; it is a loose weave; jazz, if you like; not for everyone, but for those of us whose brains work this way, it is wonderful Thank goodness, there is always another thread.. *picks up teddy hiding underneath the pram* - there you go, Purpledawn, all teddies retrieved and ready to be hugged xx

Well said beef. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'm not the only forum member who dislikes the Coundown random chat...quite a few no longer visit the forum and new members haven't bothered to post because they feel that often conversations go 'off topic'. I try to avoid it myself and only look when I'm checking for news such informations from Jax about her little grandaughter's birth. I started a thread specifically so folks could chunter about biscuits and coffee and anything else not related to Womad so yeah, return Womadness or better still post the random chat in the thread I created because I was so cheesed off with the Countdown jumble.

I think this thread has gone off topic.............. but hey; life's too short to get het up..... go with the flow...
There are plenty of threads; more can be created and there is another forum; folk can make whatever choices they like....

Yes, well, I figured it would all sort itself out in time as everyone adjusted to the new forum. Old habits die hard and such. When I wasn't a moderator, have to admit some of the, 'that's not on topic' sticklers could get a little annoying. Especially, since given a few posts, most 'off topics' generally moved themselves to a new thread anyway. Perhaps if I pin the main thread to the top people would worry less about losing it? Other than that, I figure feel free to make threads and things may well sort themselves out. In that, don't get stuck in a corner, the whole forum is open for everyone.
