Toots and the Maytals are a band I have "nearly" seen a few times but never actually achieved it because of clashes. You can bet your bottom dollar she is up against Maarja Nuut this time Some bands fate plays cruel games with me Know what you mean SC... Saturday evening a few Womad's ago featured Chic, Rachid Taha, Shane MacGowan (singing with a Sharron Shannon collective) and Speed Caravan - a multiple must-see pile-up clash-fest. Somehow saw Shane, most of Chic and Rachid Taha and caught just the last 5 minutes of Speed Caravan...a lot of anxious clock watching and running around without time to stop for a wee or a beer... anyone else got particularly unforgettable clashes? I used to run around without time to stop for a wee or a beer either, Mr Beef. then along came a hip flask which made things easier, then I just got ruthless and made difficult decisions on clashes very quickly, so it wouldn't hurt and would be instantly forgotten (try humming as so to mask the yelling protest in the brain), and then whittled down the must sees to a manageable level. Leaving the hip flask at home this year; taking just a bottle to fill up at the water points which are always on the way to wherever you are going. Stage clashes dealt with now, I am concentrating on colours this year - very red and shocking pink and vibrant orange - fab clashes!

Are Bowers and Wilkins artists included in this announcement,do we think, or announced separately?

I think the B&W artists are announced much later on and sure some are only announced on the weekend. So, just when you finish finalising you schedule a whole new batch of great names are announced.

Very interested to see Ifriqiyya Electrique. Their album came out today. Sounds good from what I've heard. Get some Tunisian moshing going on - Big Red, I hope.

Toumani Diabate 8:15 Sat evening, just NOT fair, with ACSS headlining at CG unless he were to be on at CG before ACSS.

Toumani Diabate 8:15 Sat evening, just NOT fair, with ACSS headlining at CG unless he were to be on at CG before ACSS. Has the timetable been announced? Surely it just means we have to scamper between wherever Toumani is playing over to the CG stage for ACSS ....................... although ....................... and i am preparing myself to run and hide after making this comment ....... when I saw them in The Siam Tent .......... AWESOME ........when I saw them at Wickham (DT you were there what did you think?) I thought .......AWESOME, then saw them at Brighton, Jax n Warrior, you were at the gig too, this was after ACSS had split and there were two versions fighting it out. It was nothing like the old ACSS, the magic was lost ....... all great things pass, but after my Brighton experience, if there is a big challenger to ACSS, the challenger may well get my attention. Love ACSS, but sometimes it's better to leave when you are ahead, nothing worse than the sadness of a 1970's Stadium Rock Band now touring Village Halls ...... quit while your ahead and keep your pride ........... runs and hides .............

This was where I got the timing; www.bandsintown.com/event/14688934?artist=Toumani+Diabate&came_from=127 says 8:15. Yes ACSS were magical at Wickham and beyond awesome in 2010 in Siam but the much feted The Source album had something missing. They were less than impressive at the Albert Hall 2 months ago. Like you SC I'm concerned about what I will find with ACSS. 70s rock bands look in the main like coffin Dodgers, there are exceptions, JASPER CARROT makes a thing of his age and has a wonderful backing young singer with a band made up of has beens singing old numbers. Leo Sayer has still got it.

Listening to Cerys, sounds like she is a fan of Maarja Nuut and will be catching up with her at Womad. Hopefully will be interviewed during Cerys's show on the Sunday morning. Always a fan of the Sunday morning radio show, lying in the sun in front of of the CG stage listening to her interviewing a selection of artists.

Toumani Diabate 8:15 Sat evening, just NOT fair, with ACSS headlining at CG unless he were to be on at CG before ACSS. ..that would be a hard clash decision for me - but made in a flash as ACSS were STONKING (sorry for shouting - just really excited) at Colston Hall last year and I have every confidence they will be just as STONKING at Womad, whichever stage. Any hooo - there's no way I'm going to chance missing this experience. Still really hoping I don't have to choose though.
