Spent bit of time today assessing my plan.
Looking good. Have a few gaps but generally have a pretty rammed. Not got anything from South America as yet. Have to start drinking plenty of coffee to stay up for my 'must see', Racquel Tavaras.

Timetable taking shape...every evening spent sampling music. When we started filling in our clashfinders most of our first choices were on the open air stage ..now having listened to lots of new amazing music, only Orchestre Baobab, Eliza Carthy & Toots and the Maytals remain green for the Open Air. Our lasting discoveries always come from the lesser known less mainstream bands ! Getting excited! Did a practice run with the tent yesterday !

Ok, Blatant one-upmanship. I have trifocals and have just been told I need hearing aids.. Dont die of ignorance they said once, or was that a different Aid, lucozade.

I streamed her album A Day For The Hunter, A Day For The Prey and was blown away. CD purchase essential! She was in Carolina Chocolate Drops who are also great!

Leyla McCalla is my absolute must see on the weekend. Also feel really privileged to have a front row seat for Rhiannon Giddens at the Colston Hall Bristol in November. Only regret is I will not be seeing them both sharing a stage. Perhaps that will happen at another time. I prefer the earlier album Varii Colored Songs. The song Lonely House is just so good.

You have seen everything several times! I bow to your superior knowledge on smaller bands and will ask your opinion on who to see next year but meantime could you post a link to your Youtube videos.

I'll try and get them uploaded today as I'm off work. I didn't actually do much filming as it was always raining and I didn't want to get my camera wet. It spend most of it's time sealed in bags within bags.

Need to have a rant about emir kusterica on the Friday. Know not a popular choice to the forum members and I had said I would boycott. But I do love the music and with nothing else I was interested in seeing thought I would go to check it out. Why did Womad allow a non Russian performer to come on stage to the Russian national anthem? Shame! He intruduces the band, and the guy dressed as a white admiral is jokingly referred to as being well known around the world...he is Slobidan Milosovic. Not funny as emir kusturica admires milosivic and is an apologist for Radovan Karadzic. Music should be non political, but that is not a reason to invite on stage someone who is overtly supportive of Putin, supports the ennexation of the Crimea and denies Serbian war crimes. He has also benefited from ethnic cleansing by building a model town in Serbia which was in a once Muslim area but who have now conveniently disappeared. Not annoyed or angry, just feel let down and disappointed by seeing a once favourite film director for who they really are and by Womad not doing enough to research who they were bringing in to the country. Begs the question, why was inna de yard denied a visa to travel from a commonwealth country yet a Serbian turncoat is able to come quite easily.

Except music is often political and in many instances for the right reasons. Fighting oppression and tyrannical or incompetent Governments. Think Woody Guthrie, Paul Robeson; infact pretty much popular music and much of what we saw at weekend had a political edge. And Folk Music is littered with protest singers
