It is with great sadness that I report the loss of my close friend's husband Steve, (second left). Elene and Steve have been going to Womad for years, starting at Reading taking their boys when they were young. Accompanying me in the last 10 years or so and joining in the fun with Cal n Del, Beanstew, Nigenet, Rob and Desert Traveller. Steve always loved Womad and would take us on 'Speed-Gigging' in an evening by cramming in as many acts as possible in an evening. We'd see double the acts one normally would. Or maybe we just saw double! Elene wants people to remember him. I hope to come to Womad again this year, and maybe Elene will come too. Lots of love to you all from Suffolk! Steve October 1956 - 28 February 2017 I don 't know why the picture is upside down!

Sorry to hear of the loss of your good friend Steve.
I hope both you and your friend Elene can make it to WOMAD this year.
I don't know why the preview of the picture is upside-down. It is right size up when viewed full size.

Steve's demise was relatively quick and is so sad because he did live life and he must have thought he had at least another 20 years. Truth is we dont know.
I lost my best pal, Bob Kirby aged 19 who I was doing my degree with in Bristol in December 77. He was in a car on M4 which crashed near the Malmesbury junction, (yes 'our' junction) going east. Every time I go to Womad I think of him.
If this post wasnt dismal enough, some of you may remember Rachel my Womad friend who I shared my park & camp pitch with. The chemo' she is having at the moment has given her sepsis twice; she came out of ITU today.
It puts it life into context, sod Trump & his madmen, May and her Brexit and that Scottish women who wants a re-run of the Rugby cause she didnt win; life is all too short sometimes.

I always wanted to do something creative". My realisation of "why am I doing all this shit. ? ? ? ?" Nah there is a better way, to be free, and fight and defend what is right You are right, put aside the BS, you are only once on this hamster wheel of life.
