WOMAD 2017 - Meet ups, suggestions, thoughts

Hi, thought it would be useful to have a thread on Forum Meet Ups for this year.

ZenRider could you "Pin" this thread until after Womad so it stays at the top of the threads and visitors can easily find it.

I gather from elsewhere on the threads that a 6pm meet up outside the Golden Lion on Thursday for starters.   As usual could we have a meet up prior to this inside the Golden Lion for those that may need a little Dutch Courage  

So Proposed Meet ups so far just to get the ball rolling  

Thursday:
5:00 - 6:00 Golden Lion Pub 
6:00 -         Outside Golden Lion
7:00           Waving at Webby for all the friends unable to make it this year.
Late till Late - Camp Womad - See Thread "X Marks the Spot" for location, on the night you are looking for a tent under a mass of lights

Saturday:
8:15 - 9:30 Charlie Gillett - ACSS - Down the front - well maybe not a meet-up but some jolly enthusiastic foot tapping  


Friday/Saturday/Sunday - TBC ..............  any suggestions or are we ok with just Thursday and thereafter random meetings

Sounds like a good plan

We could also try to colour coordinate what we ware so we can have the right colours for spelling out WOMAD...................................

or is that taking things too far?

The original Forum Nerds made badges for their first meeting in 2006.  I dressed up as a purple cat with a badge on my cat's ear that said 'Forum Nerd'. I have photos but they aren't very good ones, it was scorching hot and my furry outfit caused me to have a very sweaty appearance.

When you say "Keep the first meet up going after 6"  do you mean inside or outside The Golden Lion?

I'm happy that we all just meet in The Golden Lion, could do 5:00 to whenever, then all trundle along for a "Webby Wave", when we all feel ready.  We'd wait for those they we know are coming

Meetup at 6pm is ideal. If I miss a pre-meet, that's no problem.
I'm arriving an hour later than normal this year, usually takes 2 hours from leaving the Chippenham bus as the garden centre to having tent fixed up and ready. So anticipating being done by 5:30pm. (phew!)

All hands on deck for the Del cluster!

......isn't the whole point of Webby Wave to be at a precise time, so that the poor dears not there and waving can tune in and wave back?  I know they won't be having as much of a good time as us wavers, but surely they won't all be sitting there, just watching Webby, waiting for us to feel ready?? :-)
