There were things on my list that I didn't get to for whatever reason (bad planning, weather, The Great Wall of Exhaustion)
I'd love to hear about what I missed, I'm sure someone was there and can fill me in?? Maybe others have big misses too and want to know what they didn't get to see.....
My big misses were: Friday - Viguela. Excuse: it rained. That sounds lame....but I had danced my feet off at Mabon and just couldn't face waiting for an hour in the rain...
Saturday - well, I missed ACSS...but I gathered what that was like, just by looking at the holes in the plastic cable cover leading to the sound desk. I missed it cos I couldn't tear myself away from Varttina, they only went and had Eliza Carthy join in, so how could I leave early?
Also missed Raquel Tavares, it was getting late and I was ...dampish...
Sunday - Msafri Zawose. I was there for Cerys Matthews but wanted to see the whole set. How was it?
King Ayisoba - really wanted to see this but who can turn down a whirling Dervish.

If it makes you feel any better, I missed all of the above as well!
Worst clash for me was Goat with Trad.Attack! on Friday, opted for Goat who were sensational, but were TA! as good live as they sound on YouTube?

Trad attack were incredible glad I saw them although also regret missing Goat. What can you do when two great acts clash. I also regret not seeing Ska Vengers (although saw them in the Cerys show). No excuse for that one, just got a little too fed up with the mud and could not face the trudge to the ecotricity stage followed an early departure and attempt to run back for the start of Leyla McCalla

We missed Raquel Tavares for the same reason...both really wanted to see her but it was too wet and we were too tired. We also really wanted to see Varttina but we were at the front of the R3 stage for Savina Yannatou and realised if we wanted any chance of seeing ACSS from anywhere near the front, we had to stay put. Chose Trad Attack over Goat - again would have liked to have seen both. I would also have loved to to gone to Seu Jorge but wanted to go ACSS slightly more.
On Sunday afternoon I missed everything in the arena and spent the time in Taste the World mainly because I have a problem with my hip and the slightest twist or slip in the mud would have finished me off as far as WOMAD was concerned - I just couldn't risk an accident in the mud. Really enjoyed TTW but gutted at missing Eliza Carthy. But there are always clashes and tough decisions to be made at WOMAD and I enjoyed everything I saw so I am not complaining. The only act I didn't enjoy as much was Maarja Nuut. She was very good but just didn't appeal to me. Steve did enjoy her set however.
Steve was keen to see Floating Points but we were too exhausted to do anything much after Nick Mulvey finished and just crashed out in the spa with a cider and listened to Ska Avengers who were playing in Mollys.

Sunday - Msafri Zawose. I was there for Cerys Matthews but wanted to see the whole set. How was it? I was hoping that Msafri Zawose would have a full band with him - Cerys or Lopa mentioned this. It was just him in his full costume playing his own handmade instruments - so it was worth seeing again. He had a very small audience and arena seemed strangely empty at that point even though the sun was shining. Was everyone else squeezed into the Siam for Ladysmith Black Mambazo?

Varttina were amazing. I have wanted to see them for many many years and I wasn't disappointed. Worth it for the laundry song alone (ai-tara oy-tara)...very like gaelic Puirt à beul.
Hope your hip is ok!!

Lamomali and The Afro Celts were both on my must see list. Not a direct clash but to be at the front for ACSS meant missing M et Fatou ACSS were great so no regrets. I also missed my Wellington boots after they disappeared from the Spa lobby area! Too many mud splattered green boots so easy for someone to take them by mistake.

Actually what I missed most was Frank Water. WOMAD water was awful. Bringing our frank water bottles and filling from the water points next year.
I also missed Manic Organic - always had their fruit, muesli and yoghurt for breakfast and their lemon and elderflower drink was lovely. Did anyone see them?
Hips is ok thanks - just arthritis but if I twist it I am in agony and I couldn't risk too much walking round in the mud, just in case

Hope your hip is ok!! Absolutely agree with this. My highlight of the whole weekend after Tanzania Albinism Collective. Varttina have a couple UK gigs in December, Sheffield and Southampton I think. If the project with Eliza Carthy goes ahead of imagine there would be a full UK tour at some point

I stayed up late (for once) so saw Viguela and Raquel Tavaras. Good gigs. Ms Tavaras thought she was playing London and dressed very casually sporting a I love Manchester sweater. She did a couple of wonderful covers of Hallelujah and Amy Winehouses Back to Black

It tasted like errm, well water to me. Would be interesting to know the rationale for the switch though. Anyway, unnecessarily negative post number 2! - it was such a good Womad, I am determined to stamp out all such negative thoughts:) You can call me a happy clapper...

Water from the HDPE plastic bottles tasted unpleasantly of plastic unless drunk soon after refilling. Did the RFID water docks work for anyone here?
