One thing that I do not miss...
Rubbish mixing/amps/speakers!
Does not seem too long ago that performances could be spoilt by hopeless sound coming out of the speakers or sound I nterference, particularly at the beginning of a set, which may or may not get better as it went on. I particularly remember the poor quality that could come from the old CG stage before merging with the BBC 3 stage. Quality has improved over recent years but was thinking about how good quality all the sound systems I experienced over the weekend were. ๐ผ๐

Thought this year was much better than at any time since the festival has been at Charlton Park, so if something has changed to make the difference, I hope they never change it back.

on the WOMAD water issue we noted the water taps were not on the site maps and the WOMAD water dispensers were not labelled which caused some confusion too

From what I know of events with trade fairs at annual events, contracts change with vendors and such. Probably not going out on a limb thinking some of that which was missed, was not always there. As for decision, possibly made for money reason, but not necessarily just WOMAD. Perhaps the Steam Fair thought it might do better elsewhere? Since the core of WOMAD is about music and dance, until they stop having the varied and largely quality acts that they have, that is the what should be the most important. As for water, much as WOMAD needs to make money, water should always be available as needed, when needed, and profit from water, even for charity, should not override the human need for it. Now beer, coffee, fruit drinks, lemonade and such, well, that is where the money is supposed to be made. Perhaps a charity beer mug sold for discount beer refills would be better? The Steam Fair was at CarFest North that weekend .... I had a 12 year old with me - although it would've been nice for a few more fairground rides.... it probably saved me a fortune!
