Purbeck Folk Festival is an absolute delight for shear quirkiness and location. Wonderful Agreed! Purbeck Valley Folk Festival is indeed a delight ...a festival in a farmyard, stages in barns, decorated with home bunting and home made signs. Some biggish names, but lots of newer bands and plenty of discoveries to be made. Quirky, relaxed, informal, friendly, non corporate and in a beautiful location....and just wait till you see the bucket showers and the sawdust loos (though they do have some proper Festival loos as well now!) . Set up, run and taken down by a small band of dedicated people, most of whom are volunteers (including us - so slightly biased here but it is a really brilliant festival and we went for 4 years as ordinary visitors before offering to help) . If you visited the 'Visit Malmesbury' stall at WOMAD this year you may well have met the lady who organises it all. |
