Good stuff, SC. Also impresed by your choice of shirts - are you planning to wear a different one each week, or does the nunber of shirts in you wardrobe not extend that far? I noticed SC's shirt too, but mostly as my brother may have the same shirt! If not, very, very close. Cool.

Week 2 of Ham Presenting and Audio Cheese Here it is! Your weekly fix of Grandma's Gramophone Part 2 OK, this time I'm pretty sure I had a shirt a lot like yours. When my Grandma Gayle passed away I kept some of her records too. Not all of them, but some. Played one, then broke my Crosley. Sheesh. 100 year old Gramaphones work no problem, bump a new player just wrong, won't play speeds right. I do have my old '80's player, so guess I'll have to dust it off. Oh, and isn't it funny how we work to make things energy star rated, but back then they could just make things work without electricity?

Wonderful SC - amazing that via the Womad musical melting pot we're all now listening to these great old records! Also - Β that tin of Gold Block reminded me that I've got the same tin in a drawer with my grandfather's WW2 medals and brass uniform buttons stored in it (the tin was also his) - thanks for sharing SC!

... and speaking of the Accordion Orchestra, here are a couple of pictures - we visited Mrs Beef's family in Sicily last year, and her uncle Paolo dug out his accordion and played for us in his kitchen in Syracuse along with a book about Sicilian folk music (far left in the pictures), which included pictures of him playing in Taormina in 1956 (where a number of Womad festivals have been held in the Greek theatre)

We fly to Catania and we stay the first night near the airport. Then we hire a car and drive to my brother-in-laws villa. Not sure where in Sicily but up in the Mountains and about 2 hours drive from Catania, we stay there for a few days, then catch the overnight ferry to Naples, (stay 3 days), then train to Rome (stay 1 or 2 days), then train to Florence (3 days) then we were planning to train to Venice but we may pop up to Berlin on the train instead as we have just looked at the cost of accommodation in Venice and thought "Sod that", so we are thinking, maybe Berlin or maybe see if can get a train that weaves through the Alps or Dolomites, or maybe Moscow, that would be cool. Probably finish off the route and booking tomorrow
