Not wishing to be branded a lurker and hoping to generate some November cheer, I've been thinking about 2018 festivalwise. I really fancy doing all those far flung festies in Scotland, e.g. hebCelt in Stornoway, an eclectic camping weekend on Tiree for their fest involving a ceilidh for a bit of stripping the willow, and I heard about a festival on Uist from a bloke whose in a band I saw in Tobermory in October called The Ben Lee Band who were supported by Sharon Shannon. A must for 2018 though is a little festival up in the Dales..........Dent Beer and Music Festival, which is lovely and free too. I've seen the likes of Boo Hewerdine, Bhundu Boys, Nick harper and the beer flows all too well with sessions in pubs along the cobbled streets (NOT setts I mght add. (do you know the difference?)) Must remember the hipflask SC !

there something like 200 festivals across Scotland so you can take your pick (the chair of event Scotland once asked his staff how many festivals there were in Scotland and a year later they were still counting!)
for we'll kick things off with Celtic Connections, then the Glasgow Film Festival , possibly some show at the Glasgow Comedy festival in March and the just coast through the rest of the year ;o)

Hmmmm, I'm thinking Beer Festivals might be a good direction to go in 2018. I'm not sure how many festivals are in Chicago, but there may be enough to rival all of Scotland. Not that it's a contest or anything. Probably revisit a couple of the Blues Fests again, as well. The good thing about most Beer/Brew Fests involve live music, so mostly Win Win. Other than that, not making any long term plans yet, vacation picks are this month and well, until then I'm not sure where to go. Would love to join any that might actually attempt the Shetland's Folk Festival, but I'm just not sure I can quite wing it next year. Mostly as my Brother wants to visit around then... Sigh, family, love them, but far away friends, music, and adventure.....

The pub in the village does decent selection of whiskys. This festival is definitely a possible for me although 5.5 hours away. Virtually no mobile reception there. Watch out for the sheep😁

I love Dent and Dentdale. The festival is usually the weekend after the solstice but the weather can be dreich!! I.e. persistent pissing down. Scaremongers will tell you that the camping gets booked up which it does at the overpriced High Lanning but there’s the lovely informal, if hilly, Millerbeck camp site. Wellies can be useful. See you there.

....2018...blimey where has this year gone? I blinked. Missed it. I am thinking that I will probably skip Womad for a year and instead do a few folky festie things in 2018...have booked some Celtic Connections gigs, and will be keeping an eye open for new things to try...might even see y'all at Dent. SMidge also useful around there, if memory serves!

See you there. Ah...yes, that was the campsite I stayed at in 2015. £5 a night. Yes, bit slopey. There's another campsite nearer Dent station but bit of a trek from the centre. To get a good spot maybe worth turning up a day or two days and enjoy the beautiful scenery weather permitting ☺

Great fun band and an awesome venue Make sure you take your dancing shoes to that one
