I hoped this man would play at Womad but sadly Geoffrey Oryema passed away aged 65 on Friday. RIP, I loved his work. Sad news indeed. One of my favourite tracks on Real World 25. Would have loved to have heard live. Rest in peace.

I've messaged B&W with the following "Hi Guys, I'm looking forward to visiting your stage at Womad this year. The Womad site map states that your stage is "Subject to change in 2018", you are going to be there aren't you? Yours is the best stage of the festival!" Hopefully get a reply soon I've had a message back from B&W "Thank you for your message. It's with heavy hearts we tell you that Sound System won't be in attendance this year. The stage will still be curated by Real World Records, though. Kind regards Bowers & Wilkins"

Does that mean the stage (location) will not be present or will the dome or high quality ssound system that B&W provided still be there. guess this might have been a late decision by B&W so Real World could be desperately searching for available acts to book.

I assumed from what they said, that B&W only provided the sound system. Real World will "still" curate the stage. google definition of "Curate" is "select the performers or performances that will feature in (an arts event or programme)." So as they are "still" doing that, I presume selection of bands etc was always Real World Records. My assumption therefore is they are scrambling around looking for a Sound System. Anyone got a spare amp?

I've got an old Marantz in the loft that they can borrow! 😊

That's a shame. Thanks for finding this out SC.
There's always been a close link between Real Worls and Womad, and we would have expected some Real World artists to be included in the next announcement anyway. But it remains unclear as to where/what the stage will look like, and what other acts will be staged there.
Regarding Real World acts I would hazard a guess at the Breath (new album just out, playing at sunny Buxton in July!), 9 Bach (new album soon, playing Green Man in August) and Dub Colossus (recently reformed, working on new album, would love to see them at Womad again). Any of these would be fab!

Anyone got a spare amp? I'm sure I know someone who'll have a PA... not sure it will be up to B&W standards though
... Could be a tad tricky to bring on the train too!
