I think we need more cheese! How about some straight forward, no fuss Cheddar?! I love Cheddar. Might manage to carry that! I'm bringing a bit of cheddar. π

Jax, have you and Warrior been to Avebury Henge? Just struck me that it might be nice to meet there for our Womadeve drink if it isn't too far from Betsy's bed? We could meet early evening and have a walk amongst the stones? Just a thought. Anywhere will do nicely though!

It's 19 miles away from our campsite. We could easily drive there to meet you. As I'm not at home tonight (still Marnie sitting) I'll message Warrior later to ask if he's happy to do that. x

Park in the Red Lion Car Park, if Warrior is agreeable - free to customers whereas the other car parks cost or are of limits to visitors. The pub has a surprise and the stones are wonderful We can tie ribbons on the trees for our absent friends and gather sheeps wool

Liked it better years ago when you just parked in town, no car park and no no parking signs, almost no one else there. That said, do go, especially after the tourist busses leave, it's easy to get lost in a daydream there. Have walked to and from Uffington White Horse to the Wayland Smithy a long, long time ago. Might say I woke up there and had the place to myself for a bit. Walked down to the Dragon mound too. I was a little younger then.

The food is nice there if anyone fancies anything to eat. And the Wellwater beer is nice too.. Just a though - if you have time and would like to, then I recommend a visit to West Kennet Long Barrow and/or Silbury Hill (both very local to Avebury with free parking and entrance) before popping along to the Red Lion where we'll meet you.

There is something special in these landscapes - yes; very much so. I lived 6 miles from Avebury and went often - as you say, either end of the day being the best times. Winter Solstice, Summer Solstice, Solar / Lunar Eclipses, strolls with family, strolls with friends, collecting sheeps wool, tying ribbons for folk, picnics, crop circles and where wedding rings were chosen and very precious memories were made.

What a shame we're travelling in the opposite direction and not on Womad eve, I'd love to visit Avebury. Have a lovely time and maybe this year I might make the Golden Lion at 6.00

A good chance of you being at the Golden Lion at 6.00pm? - hurray!!

I have returned my profile picture to the original, so that everyone will be able to recognise me if I stand sideways

Nigenet isn't worried about cats the purple gate just the sniffer dogs and their liking for his bacon butties
