How do you know which newspapers people read currygoat and what kind of newspaper-based demographic would make for the best Womad audience? And I'm still trying to understand why on balance, in some people's view, the national & international chaos and costs (economic, social, political & environmental) of leaving the EU are likely to be worth following this crazy pursuit rather than staying within the EU? Honest questions. A lot of the damage has already been done by the referendum itself and the political gibberish that's followed - none of it in the name of democracy, will of the people or whatever you want to call it - but rather to somehow quieten the ever-divided Tory party's pro & anti EU factions and to keep the Ukip votes at bay - votes invited largely invited by the Tories' own nonsensical, right-wing media-driven obsessions with austerity and immigration figures. My sticker wouldn't stay stuck on at Womad, so I'm sticking it here - Attachment Deleted

Wars impact on women, living without plastics! Making prosthetic limbs for children. Suitable subjects for school assemblies but where's the entertainment? There are not enough of you Guardian readers buying tickets and these sort of subjects put normal people off. Do you expect Peter Gabriel to fund a festival for Guardian readers if Womad can't break even because it has been taken over by Guardian readers? He won't and that will be the end of Womad.

My sticker wouldn't stay stuck on at Womad, so I'm sticking it here - If you make Womad welcoming only to people who refuse to accept the result of a democratic referendum, Womad won't be able to sell enough tickets to make the festival viable.

I cannot see how these are discussions demanded by ‘guardian readers’ but are scheduled by the Womad organisers, presumably because they think there are enough punters who would be interested in hearing and participating in .what is being said. the world of words covered a huge range of subjects, from music related subjects to matters of social interest. Rather than putting people off I would have thought they would just find some other activity to join in with or music to listen to.

Perhaps they should have also offered people the choice of 'thumbs up to Brexit" stickers?

I think you are missing the point. It was not Womad that was giving out the stickers, nor was it a stall holder, but rather an individual offering them to those that wanted them. That is called freedom, rather than Womad being authoritarian and suppressing the distribution of stickers that (I assume) the vast majority of festival goers agreed with. Clearly you prefer a highly controlled and authoritian environment whereby individual choices and behaviours are tightly controlled. I don’t and I don’t believe most festival goers do,

I don’t and I don’t believe most festival goers do, It is very clear that I am saying the fall in attendance is due to Womad allowing itself to be taken over by Guardian readers. There must be too many of them in the management of the UK Womad and they need to be replaced.

More than just those types you mention, the fact is the prices of everything at Womad have crept up, peoples salaries have not, a lot of the magic has gone, some of the better food stalls/drumming work shops/ fancy dress/ pop up sellers are not there. The arboretum is noisy and crowded.
Womad has reached a mid life crisis and if it doesn't change less people will come, possibly they will be left with Curry goats stereotypes- who do spend quite a lot, but not enough to keep it going long term. May be more 'Guardian readers' are needed and not less? They need to look at why there is a decline, where are they going? OR is it just that big festivals are inherently doomed due to changing music fashions? Peter Gabriel under pins it, He spent £1m getting his wife cancer treatment last year- it worked. He doesnt have a bottomless wallet though.

The stages are now well positioned and I noticed no sound bleed from one stage interfering with other stages - well done Womad. Agreed. Very happy about this. Big thumbs up!

Womad Water - I still find this runs against Womad's ethics, no stand pipes this year in the arena, so no free water except in the camping areas. There *was* water in the Arena. It took a moment before I copped this but behind every official refill point where you could refill with your barcode or whatever it was, there was a normal tap. Sometimes 2 or 3 people in front of you, but very easy to refill tap water throughout the day. Edit - just realize there is a whole discussion about these taps already. There weren't so easy to spot initially.

So, CurryGoat, your answer is to blame and insult the people that do attend WOMAD for being too open, friendly, and embracing science. From here on, I will not feed a troll.
I have to agree, that the hot weather, with scattered rain, likely put a lot of people off. Especially, those with kids. Standing out in the hot sun or crowding into a hot tent to watch a days worth of performances isn't for everyone. Then again, given the weather, perhaps more people stayed in hotels, B&B's, and such and not spending whole days at WOMAD, may explain the campground being less used this year. Not everyone likes camping in all weather. Perhaps more day trippers vs attending everyday. More weekenders, people not able to take weekdays off from work to attend.
Stagnant wages, inflation, and economical uncertainty can not be blamed on WOMAD, but can effect it's attendance. The majority of people that go to WOMAD, are people that are very connected to what is happening in the world today.

WOMAD has not been taken over by anyone and the Guardian ended their sponsorship of the festival many years ago
as for the Brexit stickers, no one was forced to wear one nor were they handed out by WOMAD
