nice walk along the sea front and lunch in a very nice veggie cafe
shortly after we got back to our apartment the heavens opened for some uk WOMAD weather, mind you it was still 25c
we have also had a listen to the bands that are due to plat today and there is only one we really want to see, BCUC and they are on a midnight. we might try one of the workshops or just find a bar to sit and watch the world go by

and it's all over last night we had a bit of rain which sent the locals running for cover however as it was warm rain and there was no mud we took it all in our stride. Ladysmith Black Mambazo were good but a bit sedate for us. BCUC were amazing, we caught their sound check and they played for 15 mins just to work out the monitor levels etc. we were right at the front and Del loon danced from the first to last note, Cal could only manage 30 minutes before she had to retire for the evening (they did start at 00.00). In the hour set they only played 2.5 song (the 0.5 was an intro) so it was wall to wall music. When they finished the singer jumped into the crowd for a photo. He was right next to Del so when the photos had been taken Del was able to ask for an encore. The singer took Del's hand and told him "you are the man!" This isn't the first time Del's loon dancing has earned him this title from a band, Vaudoo Game did it too, and by chance BCUC and Vaudoo Game are playing a gig in Paris together next May........................

Would we go back?
Yes but not every year and we would stay is another part of the island for rest of the holiday.
would we recommend it?
Yes but it is low key compared to WOMAD UK and the range of world music is very limited (Africa, Mediterranean and lots of Spanish)
oh and the Las Palmas crowd talks all the time, right the way through all the sets, even when they are down the front!

thank SS
we have been talking about our trip over the last few days and we have decided we won't go back to Las Palmas for a holiday, we didn't like being in such a big town
WOMAD LPGC was fun and we might go back but it would depend on who was playing, we would also move on somewhere else afterwards too
(the days after WOMAD he beaches were closed which didn't help)
