If you want a little thing to read every day as well as a good album to listen to, I have exactly the thing for you. I've started a new blog, with the aim of writing about a Good Album every day, mostly as a writing exercise but also to maybe get a few lesser-known gems out there. I think it's going quite well so far! You can read it here: 365goodalbums.blogspot.comPlease feel free to give feedback! I hope you enjoy

That's a great idea - and being a methodical type, I'm likely to go through them in order, albeit will take me much longer than a year to do so!

Only on Blog 17 and I'm already worried this Blog is going to cost me a bloody fortune Haha it's great to know that my writing may be directly responsible for pennies in musicians' pockets! Please don't hesitate to comment on the blog (or here) to say which you're enjoying particularly/if you disagree with me or anything! I'm really interested in what people think of the music and my writing, so I'm trying to get a little bit of a discussion going...

Thanks Jimhxn, 1st direct reaction has been to dig out my old Konono No1 Congotronics CD 😀. Not listened to it for ages, used it for the drive to work today ....... tricky staying to the speed limit with that playing 😀😀😀. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍

I'm enjoying it too, although progress is a little slow, having just made it to 9th January. I fear I may die before reaching the end...
Best finds so far are Donso and the Bisserov Sisters, i'd heard of neither before, both cd's are superb.

I love this, olirow - I'm so glad I'm managing to introduce new things people, and especially when you agree with the superbness of them! I hope I can keep on fuelling your listening pleasure.

Thanks jimhxn - so far you've re-awakened my interest in Hawk and a Hacksaw (yes, all their albums are heavily drawn from East European folk, although their earliest albums are quite "quirky"...) and introduced me to Familia Pilco's Music from the Andes - loved your story about how you discovered that one! It's a real joy to share great music and I hope to be able to return the favour one day.
