Cerys is apparently broadcasting 'live' both Saturday and Sunday morning, but yes, it's probably in the back of a BBC van. I have to say that in the heat of the moment I forgot all about Cerys (how could I!) even though I’d enjoyed her shows in the past. Was she there? I saw nowt in the programme. Has she gone with the cuts? Dumbing down of bbc commensurate with Brexit thinking and trumpesque attitude? I am sure that Cerys is present on one (or more) of the photos that are available via a link on the piccies thread (wearing her trademark hat which has appeared less frequently over recent months). pleased to say that the BBC cuts have not been severe enough that they can still show coverage of house music from Ibiza on the bbc red button. Thank god our cultural needs are being looked after.

Womad criticizes Home Office/Foreign Office re approach to issuing visas and impact of Brexit one year, and the BBC reduces it's involvement the next year. Coincidence? Possibly. No comment on visas this year from Womad though, as far as I can see. Womad didn't seem that confident in February olirow - who knows what affect this may have had on the line-up? I think they should book Shetland's Mandolin band. Wouldn't hurt to have some near local folk music in the cultural mix. 😀

Well I preferred the choice between the big red tent and the smaller D&B, but can anyone apart from the bods who work for D&B notice the sound difference? It's a festival, people are talking, no-one is in the optimum position and apart from when they make the sound go round the tent it sounds like any other P.A. (excellent as they are) at Womad.

I didn't venture to the D&B tent too often, but the sound quality was excellent every time I did (eg the fantastic Meute who kicked things off so brilliantly on Thursday), and seemed much more reliable than the variable standards of the Siam. Which makes me wonder if they could use D&B or someone similar for the whole festival?

It's a festival, people are talking, no-one is in the optimum position and apart from when they make the sound go round the tent it sounds like any other P.A. (excellent as they are) at Womad. To me, the sound quality was far superior in the D&B than In The Siam. Do need to take into account that the D&B is much smaller so can ‘fill with sound’ more easily. On saying that, the D&B seemed to have more up to date kit, with lots of smaller speakers giving a much better audio experience. Finally, D&B are promoting their brand and would not want to have a poor quality as it reflects badly on their products. That makes me wonder whether they were employing better sound engineers than womad, with older kit. There were times when I was frustrated with the Womad sound set, particularly Anandi Bhattacharya on the CG stage and les Filles de Illighadad in the Siam.

Welcome to the Full Moon Pub! 🎉 Pulled up an old thread. They are great. With usually around 30 members, I'm not sure they travel much, but I think they could handle a trip to WOMAD.

An odd comment though... AI? The comment isn't as odd, as no reply to their comment. Sigh. Thought for once we had a new member, but seems to leaning towards another spammer. So far seems to be pushing mandolins, so at least music oriented? Definitely different.

"Hiljaiset Soinnut" must be a beautiful piece, especially with the chord variations inspired by Petri Hakala and Timo Alakotila. I’m excited to check out your videos and dive into Nordic folk music on the mandolin.

Neil Young on the mandolin sounds awesome. I love the mix of easy chords and that harmonica melody.

I love the idea of introducing Nordic folk music through mandolin and guitar. Your choice of instruments and the Polska after Juringius must make for a captivating performance.
