Hiya, How many here, back in the olden days used to read and/or post on the Unofficial WOMAD Forum? This was a more intimate, more friendly (and better, imo) place to chat about WOMAD, world music and life than the other (original) WOMAD Forum Memories, anyone?

Hi ph
we didn't know about the "unofficial" WOMAD forum, is it still out there somewhere?
The full moon pubs is a lovely home for us forum types, although things have slowed down in recent years

Amazed you were able to dig that out of the archives. Brings back memories and sadness that Womad no longer wished to continue supporting a forum on their own site. Also a bit of annoyance that at the time, womad pushed us to a forum on the ‘other site’ which, as we found out, was a corporate money making site supported by a team that did not care that participants were treated as faceless consumers rather Than welcomed as important contributors. In short, thanks to ZR, the landlady of the Full Moon Pub

Well done finding that, but no, that's not the one. The one you found is the original, official WOMAD forum. The one I'm talking 'bout was the original, UNofficial WOMAD forum; the one that was set up and run by some thirteen y/o (maybe) kid in 2004 (maybe) at www.womadforum.freeforums.org. There must be some oldtimer, hardcore WOMAD crusties that visited this one

web.archive.org/web/20080409105359/http://womadforum.freeforums.org/That's the one, Beef! As of 19th May, 2008, three months from its inception there were twenty-four members; Jimhxn, marooned, Jumpup, purpledawn, Redrob, WaterDragon, jima, gogledd, ph, djembegirl, Des, lifebegins..., boatmanbird, omnibus, Bruce, Cordwangler, trebor, mags, kbb, Sambadrummer, mountainromps, One Tree Hill, erap and Bald Devil Jake. Others I can think of included greybeat and Channygirl. Throughout its existence these member numbers increased and, writing from personal experience, forged some long lasting 'real' (i.e. in the physical world as opposed to online) friendships around the country. Anyone's memories nudged now?

I wasn't aware of the unofficial forum. It's quite interesting reading some of the posts from 2008, particularly Jihixn's spoof that 'Cliff Richard (UK/India)' was going to play!
A few familiar names on there, and also a few from the 'Official' site, though many have disappeared over the years. Whatever happened to Baz, I wonder?

First time I have been to the pub for ages I did like the set up of the old but not oldest forum and it was fun to see that I started the topic third down in 2012. Anyway....um...Hello anyone like a drink?
