Oh dear. It will have to be a new discoveries fest for me as there isn't a single name that jumps out as a must see. I like Fatou, Angélique, Sona Jobarteh, but have seen them all before. Let's go into the small print and start listening...

Found a nice video that might help you get in the mood. Maybe you know or have met the guy who put it together? ...was hoping he might have filmed that idiot falling from a table onto my big toe during the Well Oiled Sisters... my toe still ain't right...

Just clicked to see where all the acts are from, and of course there is lots of interesting stuff. And I see that Angélique Kidjo will be doing her 'Remain in light' show. Looking forward to that.

Might not be to everyone’s taste at Womad but the Flaming Lips will give an amazing show. Saw them 10 years ago at a festival and they were incredible.

I'm rather excited by this line up. Love Sona and Fatou.
Wasn't expecting Flaming Lips. A band I got into early noughties before WOMAD and the world of folk took me by storm.
As for Mariza! The legend that is Mariza returns. Not sure if she has been back since WOMUD but what a performance she put in then in 2007. Beanstew would be happy

Well this is a cracking line-up.
Thursday evening will be a great start to the weekend with Selector and Fatoumata Diawara.
Really excited about seeing Flaming Lips. Funnily a friend and fellow Womad-nerd messaged me last night to say he'd noticed that the Spotify Womad playlist had changed to include Flaming Lips, Mariza, Sona Jobarteh, Mokoomba, Kate Tempest, Fatoumata and Angelque Kidjo. Could these be in the line-up? I replied excitedly saying hopefully yes, but I couldn't imagine the Flaming Lips at Womad. Just goes to show how little I know!
As usual many unfamiliar names in there which will require extensive research...

Looks like Fatoumata Diawara is the Thursday night headliner, in which case you definitely need a Thursday ticket😀 also, the Selector are on Thursday night.

Seems like quite a safe line-up so far, I have also seen most of the acts in the top 2 tiers before - nothing wrong with that except I prefer new adventures. That being said, there's bound to be lots to excite in the third tier, and I am also looking forward to seeing A Certain Ratio for the first time - I had no idea they were still going!

Listening to the "Discover WOMAD Festival 2020" Spotify playlist, so far sounding fantastic, some awesome tunes for a lazy sunny afternoon with some real ales and the occasional nip of something a wee bit stronger
