Really sad news that Nick 'Dubullah' Page has passed away, aged 60. One of my favourite Womad performances was Dub Collosus in the Red Tent 2009.

Gosh... really unexpected and sad - loved his work and seeing him a few times with his various projects at Womad over the years.

Here's one of the wonderful pieces from his Syriana album with an amazing film, obviously made before the horror of the conflict in Syria. This was the highlight of womad 2010, I think. Mesmerising to watch and listen at the festival back then, heartbreaking now to know what fate these people would face a few years later.

Missed seeing Transglobal Underground and Syriana at Womad, but was fortunate to see him with Dub Colossus and Xaos. He''ll be sadly missed.

Just found some new music from Syriana on Bandcamp - bernardoneill.bandcamp.com/album/syriana-after-damascusI bought & downloaded it yesterday (it's an amazing orchestral reworking of some of the Syriana tracks, plus a couple of new pieces) and sent a note of appreciation via Bandcamp and got this really nice reply from Bernard O'Neill, the double bass player: "Many thanks for your kind words and your ongoing support. Nick and I were working on the new Syriana album right up til April . Sadly to say he didn’t get to see it completed but I can assure you that it will be, it’s awaiting performances from some artists who were delayed due to covid but that will be rectified soon, I’ll keep you informed. Many thank, Bernard"
