I’m optimistic about Musicport too. The line up includes Roberto Fonseca who is always good but Dahka Brakha and Thos Mapfumo prob won’t be making it 😢 Folk are already booking b&bs. Is there still a plan for anyone booking a mansion or palace for a nerds collective / commune ? “Look not up to him for help for he rolls on impotently as thou or I “

Well researched Beef. “ and oft has wine played the infidel, and robbed me of my honour, well ...” I might well be doing the youth hostel but the hike up the steps at midnight, in the rain, via the graveyard gets a bit daunting as youth is wearing off 😆 I might be exchanging places with a soul there.

‘via the graveyard gets a bit daunting as youth is wearing off, I might be exchanging places with a soul there’
Is that from the Rubaiyat as well? It very well could be.

I come old friend from Hell tonight Across the rotting sea Nor the nails of the cross Nor the blood of Christ Can bring you help this eve The dead have come to claim a debt from thee They stand outside your door Four score and three

No Mikey I was waxing lyrical. This could develop into a poetry thread. Maybe that’s why I like Dylan ( mainly Bob) The Pogues too, Beef. Shane is a bit of a poet. Remember him in the Siam tent, drunk, singing Fairytale and Irish Rover with all the crowd. Magic. I like that song ‘the Broad Majestic Shannon’ and ‘Navigator’.

My name is Captain Tiny Evans and my ship was the Cadwalledar, and Mrs Evans has been dead these long years ‘Poor Captain Evans’ the neighbours fuss, ‘all alone’ But I like being alone, and I hated her!
Not poetry as such but by Dylan (not that Bob fella)

Mikey, are you a DT buff ? All I know was that he imagined a village called ‘Llaregub’ which, as palindrome fans will know doesn’t amount to much. 😄 should it have 2xg ?

Yes, two L’s and two G’s I think he was one of the finest wordsmiths who could capture the real spirit of the people he wrote about. Under Milk Wood is so magical, who else could write about Butcher Beynon dreaming about running down the high street, a finger (not his own) hanging from his mouth.

Sorry if this is old news but I just read that this year's Musicport festival is likely to be the last. That is really quite upsetting.

Jim& Sue have done a great job, entertaining me in October for at least ten years. It may be passing into history like Colne Blues fest. (Fingers crossed for a reprieve for one or both) What will I do to replace it? Well here’s one idea handy for me. Lancaster Music Festival which sports some interesting acts. lancastermusicfestival.com/I’m going to see the Breath this weekend. Catch ya all in Whitby
