Here's hoping everyone was able to see the full moon on the 24th of July.
The moon here has been red when low and rusty orange most of the rest of the night due to the forest fires in the Northwest and California. Air quality alerts have been abundant, especially when were especially hot and humid. One night it was about 28C with high humidity at midnight. It had been closer to 37C during the day much of last week. Makes one appreciate having AC even more than normal. Weather has become much nicer now, though perhaps a little too dry for the next few weeks. At least, I can give the AC a bit of a break. Don't worry I have a vacation coming up at the end of the month, so likely plenty of rain then.
As for hay, my cousin in Minnesota is not going to have hay this year, as they have been in a pretty serious drought in his area. People are selling livestock, as they can't get hay to feed them. Will likely raise prices of hay in surrounding states as some hay dealers will capitalize on the shortage. We haven't had as severe a drought by me, but there is a good chance my barn may only get two cuttings this year themselves.
Other than that, people are largely getting vaccinated. Some people with political issues are sneaking out and disguising themselves in states like Missouri to get vaccinated. That way they can still claim to be unvaccinated, but have the protection of the vaccine. Yeah, crazy stupid, but at least they are getting vaccinated. I have gone to a few small things relatively locally. Watching the huge festival Lollapalooza from a severe distance, the news. They have required vaccinations and on the first day turned away about 600 people that weren't vaccinated. There is a surge in the area, so they are asking people to mask indoors (tents) at the festival. Will wait to see if a festival this huge can manage not to infect a lot of people. Even if they are relatively safe at the festival, they are going to stores restaurants and shops and hotels in the area. Have seen a lot of cars coming from high Covid areas for the weekend all last week, so will be interesting. Certainly will put the vaccines to test. This festival hosts about 100,000 people.
In the meantime, I hope everyone having a Birthday under this moon between full waning and waxing for the next moon had/have especially Happy Birthdays!
