Hope every was able to get a look at the full moon 22 August. Since it's an extra moon for the summer season, it's also considered a blue moon, though most of us think of that as when there are two full moons in the same month. The moon here has shown more white lately, but still a bit of rusty tinge from the western fires far, far, far away.
Some festivals have gone forward. Some more carefully than others. Here's hoping next year will be a better festival year. Even if it requires more jabs. The ones that have taken Covid precautions have largely been successful of not being super spreader events. Such as Lollapalooza, which required proof of vaccination and/or a negative Covid test. They turned away people that didn't have either. They also recommended masks in enclosed areas, but not sure how well that was followed. Unlike the Sturgis Motorcycle rally, where no mask or vaccinations were required at all. They were likely also discouraged. Big surprise, Sturgis once again has become a super spreader event, who's effects may be noticed well into September. Meaning, people caught it there, went home, and spread the virus to family, friends, and the people they work with.
The world is as crazy as ever. Weather events seem to get more and more extreme. Political events creating more chaos than ever. Here's hoping all those that need to find somewhere safe, finds that place. No one should have to live in fear.
Here's to Happy Birthdays Full Moon to Full Moon!
Astronomy Events of Interest:
07 September: New Moon
14 September: Neptune at Opposition. Good to view if you have a really good telescope.
14 September: Mercury at Greatest Eastern Elongation. Best time to view is evening right after sunset on the Western horizon.
