Kinda missed a lot of folk, including those I have never met!
Let's put this right for all of us and agree a meet up place and time or two....
Arena usually opens around 2pm on Thursday - maybe a meet at one of the arena entrances?
Thursday evening meet - place and time?
A meet for people arriving on Friday? Maybe on Saturday morning?
I am so excited that Zenrider will be with us this year - it is going to be an amazing Womad...

not sure if there will be a webby this year as the cyberworld has moved on as load of festival goers will be live streaming (hopefully not from the loos)

Will be arriving at WOMAD Thursday. Splurged on a small Podpad, as with flying over, jet lag, and not being as young as I once was that would be the best bet for me. I will actually arrive a few days sooner to help with the jet lag, and do some other sightseeing before and after WOMAD. Will likely stay somewhere not too far from the festival the night before. I hope there is a Webby, as I'd like to be on the other side of the WOMAD wave this once. I too am looking forward to seeing everyone.

This all sounds good and a pod is a good idea. Most of us arrive on Thursday. As for touring I woudnt waste the money on Stonehenge, very expensive and you can't touch the stones, better off going to Salisbury and seeing the Cathedral with a copy of our Bill of Rights- The Magna Carta in it and a 14Century clock. Bath is good too, used to be full of Amercan tourists! Petrol prices are gonna be a shock, almost Ā£2 / litre.

Last time I did some pre-Womad touring, I saw Tony Levin in a Bath coffee shop - he signed my Bath A+Z! That was 2007, the muddiest Womad ever.

You can touch the stones at Aylesbury and it is more of a discovery than Stonehenge which has been well hyped up (I would not say over-hyped though). I would say that Aylesbury is a nice place to visit with lots more to experience (I aim to go back and stay for a few days) and with petrol prices at Ā£2/litre is better value as a lot closer to Malmesbury.

And what more can I say about Magna Carta? Did she die in vain? Brave Hungarian peasant girl who forced King John to sign the pledge at Runnymede and close the boozers at half past ten! Is all this to be forgotten?

I think predictive text is giving Aylesbury instead of the intended Avebury. I used to live 6 miles away and visit it often along with East Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill. Tip - use the free parking on the A4 at Silbury Hill, visit that and the long barrow on the opposite side of the road, then return to Silbury Hill and walk through to Avebury Henge from there - it is a nice approach. Alternatively, there is a small amount of free parking at the start of The Avenue, which is, for me, the most impressive way to approach the stones. 9f course, you can always park at The Red Lion in the Stone circle and enjoy a refreshment there...

I'll be in the area early too as I'm visiting old neighbours before Womad and need time to take things easy as my energy is still limited. Glad to say my brain is mostly doing much better these days. I have no idea how Womad will affect me, but I am excited to find out! I will make sure you have my contact details - happy to meet you at your wristband exchange point and show you pod pad land and where X marks the spot is and around the arena so you know your home.

Crikey, wish I could blame predictive text but I got my Avebury and Aylesbury completely mixed up, forgot the old saying āgo to Aylesbury where there are ducks to be eaten, but Avebury has stones that canāt be beatenā (as told by Jack Hargreaves on How!). well spotted Standing Stone, would never forgive myself if Zen went all the way to Aylesbury for no reason.

I'm impressed - I don't think I've ever heard that rhyme, Mikey! Mind you, I am having to relearn my multiplication tables, so it might still be hiding somewhere in my brain! Anyway, Avebury is where my standingstone is from and I still have some sheeps wool I collected when I was last there. Watched gannets diving last week and dolphins yesterday - looking forward to wildlife spotting from the coach to Chippenham.

Anyway Stonehenge is only 64 years old, it was rebuilt in 1958, stones set in concrete and may be lined up with the sun by a couple of digger drivers, I can hear the conversation now ...."Here Bert what day is it? 21st June. Harry, Shall we line all them stones up with sun, make it look nice and neat and it will use less concrete, Good idea Bert. May be Zen has no interest in our stones, we have some great steam heritage railways.
