petergabriel.com/news/pg-contributes-to-2-unite-all/I do understand Peter wanting to help children everywhere, but I find Peter's comments troubling in some regards. Mostly, as he doesn't seem to acknowledge part of Palestinians problem with children becoming collateral damage comes from the Palestinian military storing their weapons in schools, hospitals, residential neighborhoods, and such. Which is why would I stop short of blaming Israel entirely for the problems in that region, however they are far from blame free. What was really sad about that region, was it seemed they were headed toward a more peaceful solution when Hamas, using the conflicts in other regions, chose to bring violent jihad to the region instead of peaceful resolutions. . footnote: I'm thinking Peter wasn't feeling that strong about this as it seems to be just another rehash of an old, old song, Across the River. It is for medical aid to children in the region, I suppose that is a noble thought. As it is, I believe ending the violent conflict first would do more for the children there, as well as for the safety of the aid workers. It would take real leadership and pressure on that leadership to make that happen and no one seems up to that task. Just some thoughts in this lonely forum.

I've been more lonely than this forum - but having said that I don't know why more people aren't here. . . I think PG lies at the heart of whatever the answer to that is. I didn't know about this PG track - I'll have a look. PG seems to have got into a habit of recording odds and ends which never get properly released - I heard Show yourself at Womad last year, and I've still no idea where you can hear it/buy it. . . The other day I watched a new film by Adam Curtis called "Bitter Lake" - it's an incredible montage of archive footage, music combined with a narrative examining how the Middle East got so messed up during the 20th & 21st centuries - I guess you probably can't watch BBC iPlayer, but if you can - www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02gyz6b. Here's a review - www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2015/jan/29/bitter-lake-brilliant-portrayal-wests-criminal-arrogance-AfghanistanRemember - you're never alone here Zenrider!

Doh! When you said rehash, I didn't realize you meant it's just the same 33 year old track wheeled out for another charity record. . . yawn. I don't know why PG even bothers anymore.

Hey - don't worry Zenrider - less is more - quality vs quantity . . .
I thought rehash meant it was a remix or something. . . should have known better!

Glad you aren't too lonely beef. I'm not exactly rocking the center of the social world myself these days. OK, never really did. Part of the problem has been my work schedule, part of the problem is some of my better friends over the years moving far away following job opportunities. The rest of the problem, the world seems to move faster then I do in some regards. Guess that's something I have in common with PG. hahaha, found the perfect definition of rehash on the internet. Rehash: To bring forth again in another form without significant alteration. In this case: To bring forth again on another album without significant alteration.
