Just realised it's 29 years ago that I first went to Womad... and that is more than my 27 years of age at the time...back in 1994.. yikes... so... just look at the flags! www.womad.co.uk/flagsTimes flies when you're listening to the world's best music.

It's been a busy week for us, checking our WOMAD gear and packing around working. We also managed to find a place to stay on Friday night to help break up our journey south. As soon as we finished work on Friday it was all hands to the pump to pack the last of our gear, load up our car and the head off to our glamping pod near Shap in Cumbria. The drive was fine as the motorway was quiet and we arrived just as it was getting dark. The pod was basic but was warm and comfortable and we both slept very well.
Yesterday we completed the drive to our airbnb in Wickwar, the rain made driving difficult at times and heavy traffic and road works added about an hour to our total journey time.
Anyway we're all set for WOMAD and our fingers are crossed for a not too wet WOMAD.

Well, all the different forecasts are showing varying weather conditions, including what could be a pretty damp Womad. The encouraging news is that the most reliable forecast (the met office) is saying the weekend will be dry apart from lighting rain Thursday morning (they are not showing Monday forecast yet). Fingers crossed 🤞 we all stay warm and dry.
Watch out as there could be some wind on Saturday (pleeeeeeease no jokes about eating too many pickled eggs etc.) so make sure you are well pegged down (tents, gazebos etc, not yourselves). This is after Tolpuddle festival has to be cancelled and we were asked to take down all tents promptly on health and safety grounds (instructions very readily followed by all).

Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is dryer than the current forecast looks. Tomorrow, OK today is going to be sunny, which should help setting up concessions.
Jealous you will get the moon and IO.

The Bluedot festival had to stop entry by day ticket holders due to flooding. The pictures of the site was more like a brown splodge.
The forecast is very changeable, Thursday looks like it will be wet but it's the rest of the weekend that's still unclear.
The WOMAD site can be very windy, luckily we invested in heavy duty tent pegs years ago and they've never let us down (yet).

Del managed to download the timetables from the WOMAD website.
He's marked up the bands he'd like to see, Thursday and Sunday are weak days for him but Saturday and particularly Friday as full of clashes. Proof positive you can have too much of a good thing.

Also spent time going through the schedule and finding long gaps when struggling to find an act I am excited at seeing (particularly with such a mediocre line up for Thursday).
So, really frustrated to find a three way clash at 5pm on Friday. Ibibio Sound System, Dakh Daughters and Ana Carla Maza were three that I had previously highlighted in what was quite a short list.

Yes Thursday is disappointing, Jungle Brothers being the only act I currently am interested in seeing. The rest of the weekend looks good for me, I do have lots of clashes, but I think that's a good thing, if an act doesn't turn out to be as good as I hoped it does allow me to walk away and switch stages, in the knowledge something better is just around the corner

Thursday and Sunday are weak days for him but Saturday and particularly Friday as full of clashes. Friday evening looks very good, Makoomba, Polobi, Vassvik ...Liraz for Saturday and Staples Jr for Sunday Hope all the sensory stimulation doesn't fry Del's brain, lol Some performances require a bit of digestion under a tree in the arboretum, lol

Many clashes for me too - Mokoomba/Rokia Kone, Pongo/Wiyaala. Dakh Daughters/Ibibio Sound Machine, Liraz/Mariza, Comet is Coming/Cinematic Orchestra - but it seems to be the case every year. I may well swap from one stage to the other for some of the clashes, which is perfectly doable for D&B to Open Air Stage and Charlie Gillett to Siam (unless it gets very muddy!)

Thursday night holds very little to catch our interest apart from meeting up with some familiar faces. We have the same 3 way clash on Friday but we're planning on see Carla Maza at taste the world which eases things a little bit.
