Thursday looks like it will be wet but it's the rest of the weekend that's still unclear. Wednesday evening through to Thursday morning is forecast for a deluge but Thursday midmorning there is a dry window for putting up your tent. From Thursday afternoon until teatime Friday, there is no rain forecast and from teatime to dusk there might be the odd light shower. Friday night will be dry until midmorning Saturday when there will be sunshine and the chance of light showers until teatime. Saturday evening right through to Monday morning should be dry with the chance of light shower Sunday lunchtime. If Del likes playing in the mud, make sure he takes all his wet clothes off in the tent porch before he is allowed inside

Don't know about you, but I am absolutely buzzing that Womad starts tomorrow. It's been a pretty crappy year so far, and the chance to forget everything apart from listening to fantastic music is simply wonderful:)
I don't even care too much about what the weather will be this year...

We're not far from the site and it's been raining steadily or 4 or 5 hours. Del wouldn't call it heavy, just rain.
Del also went for a walk this afternoon and noted the ground was very dry so he suspect the rain will be soaked up very quickly.
Having said all of that, we're glad to be here and we're really looking forward to a weekend of fun and fab music (whatever the weather)

Or he has to take off all his dry clothes before going outside. 🫣

Enjoyed Thursday night, Jungle Brothers were a suitably uplifting way to start, and an authentic New York hip-hop band. Kate Rusby was errm quirky, never seen her live before and she wasn't quite what I expected. I did enjoy the music.
Great start to Friday Poca Drom, punk rock for 5 year olds, the kids were a bit bemused tbf but I loved it:)
And just heard Glenn Tilbrook talk about his life and songwriting, he is a great inspiration, massive personal integrity and so candid, still open to new ideas, an example to all the many who have lost their way as they got older.
First on to the Open Air Stage was the Dutty Moonshine Big Bang. I am a real sucker for a performer that says he has been to Womad all his life, it's the greatest moment of his life to perform here, and then breaks down in tears. Their music sounded a lot better after he said this:)
And now we have a band from remote Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon blasting out awesome Cumbia. This is a fantastic start to the festival, I hope it (and I) keep going:)

We arrived home yesterday afternoon after a long, tiring, enjoyable and WOMAD Wonderful holiday.
We'll post an update on our WOMAD soon and update the full countdown, 353 days to go!
In short we had a great time and Cal made magnificent use of her buggy, zipping around the site which allowed her see loads more things that she would have been able to on foot.

Was the buggy also a good way to see stages (is the annoying "sit down" nonsense still a thing still a thing? the standers seem to have won the day, the ecotrity stage tends to have some 'sitting' but given the type of music and low stage it's not surprising, however if the band is very lively then the audience isn't slow to get on their feet.
