Yep, it seems the world is increasingly let by fools.

Not a chunter but news that is encouraging and gives hope. Jacinda Arden won a huge landslide victory in New Zealand, showing there is a place for politics that is caring, compassionate and gets it right when dealing with Covid.

Much as I can't wait for the election to be over, after what happened last time... I don't think I can survive another 4 years of the Orange turd. Should he lose, as he should as he's done nothing good for anyone, but himself and his masters. His last two months + will be bad enough. Can only imagine the kind of people he'll rush to pardon.
Here's hoping the Democrats can take the Senate. That will help, as they take office January first.
Fingers crossed for a little sanity to return to the USA in 2021.

There is a lot of damage he can inflict, not just the appointment of a right wing religious fanatic to the Supreme Court. Perhaps if the Democrats take a majority in all three houses (senate, congress and whitehouse - if my understanding is correct) they will be able to provide some damage limitation.

Hope to be able to produce the Republican candidate in time for the next presidential election.

With all three houses they should be able to do more than that. However, with the courts stacked with corrupt and unqualified judges, it will be an uphill battle, but still better than a continuation of this absolute nightmare.

I was astounded to hear about this story on a recent podcast www.rawstory.com/2020/10/amy-coney-barrett-accused-of-unconscionable-cruelty-in-teen-rape-case/The new Chief Justice helped overturn a decision holding a county prison responsible for the repeated rapes of an inmate by a prison guard. She agreed the guard was responsible but the county was not responsible for his conduct. Outcome, the guard gets some minor sentence, the County gets absolved and the victim gets nothing!!! As I have heard many times about America, Gilead is coming closer

As I have heard many times about America, Gilead is coming closer ...it has nothing to do with justice or victims... this is also a worthwhile but disturbing listen - aca.st/d9c5ba

Well, I've voted. Picked a good time, as no line whatsoever.
From here all I can do is wait and hope more of us vote against the insanity than for.
Much as it looks promising, after what happened last time, it's hard to get comfortable.

Some of the Southern US states have a greater number of college votes because, historically, they were allocated to reflect the number of black slaves (who obviously did not have a vote) and gave the whites a greater say. Incredibly, this has not been rectified and these states still have a greater say per head of population than the likes of California and New York.

Incredibly, this has not been rectified and these states still have a greater say per head of population than the likes of California and New York. Yes, our voting history has long been to the benefit of rich white men. The electoral college has been kept to hold onto the benefit of the rich. Something that should have been addressed long ago and unless the Democrats can take hold of all three branches and never let the Republicans have so much control again, can we hope to finally make an end to the one thing that keeps us from being a true democracy. Without the electoral college, America would not have gone to war in Iraq under GW Bush. It is also possible the events of 9-11-2001 would not have happened. We would have had a President Gore. Who would also had the Supreme and other court picks that GW Bush enjoyed. Amongst so many other things that would have changed as well. Sadly, we can only dream about what may have been. It's looking good, but with the Republicans openly trying to suppress the vote it's going to have to take a blow out election to keep it from the courts they have worked so hard to control.
