..... and it is over £11.3 million that they owe to the Not-For-Profit EBU, the Romanian Government wouldn't even help or talk to the EBU about it. Particularly as TVR seems to be heading for insolvency, the EBU had to act. What choice did they have? Ask everyone else to pay for them? The likes of Iceland, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Portugal and the Eastern Countries are all pretty much on their knees already and would not welcome that, and I am pretty sure the financially stable countries of Germany, France and UK would soon tell them where to go. Leaves the EBU in a difficult place and I fully understand them sending out a very clear message to others that are thinking of not paying as well. It's hard on Ovidio Anton, but her song will still be on the official CD.

I don't disagree, S.C.; it is just hard to fathom why this didn't happen in 2008; looks like everyone else has been covering TVR's mounting fees for nearly a decade now........ not a good state of affairs...

.. besides, Eurovision is far too much fun to get bogged down with such seriousness!  We're doing the same as we did last year; staying clear of all the lead up and just enjoying the show on the night. If there are other countries in the same pickle as Romania, it may be a shorter show.....! |

SS you will LOVE Rome, awesome awesome awesome city. One word of advice DON'T eat in the restaurants around the the big tourist traps, i.e. The Forum, The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon etc etc. those restaurants are basically for the American and Japanese tourists, fast food versions of Italian food, wander back to smaller squares and streets and the restaurants, cafes and very small food venders all sell fantastic food. You will love it |

Well I'm gutted! Romania will be sorely missed. I loved their circular keyboard from 2014.... Good point Rendrags, that keyboard takes some beating........... maybe those in power should reconsider Also I liked the cleavage and sparkly dress although, I think she should have been wearing sensible sandals so she was a bit shorter than him (who was having a very bad hair day) |
