Hmmmm, Perhaps, just perhaps, we can start feeling optimistic that something may eventually, actually, really! be released before the end of the year! petergabriel.com/news/studio/

. . . you're forgetting all the re-working, re-recording, mind-changing. . . etc - sorry to be so cynical Zenrider - does look promising, but remember when he had at least two albums ready at the time of "Up". . . then all the intermittent "working on new stuff". . . looking forward to being proved wrong though!

He's had many, many years to do that. OK, it seems he's still doing it, but it's coming I say! It's coming!

Driving home from work last week, the radio station WXRT, actually mentioned about how Peter is working on his first completely new album. It's really gonna happen!

I just got back from Womad - almost bumped into Peter at the John Metcalfe set (which was wonderful!). It was one of those weird moments - I just accidentally looked at PG as I walked into the tent, he looked at me. . . and in a split second I felt like we somehow agreed not to speak. . . what could be said?

Cool. Wish WOMAD was more doable for me. Hell, Lallapalooza is only about 65 miles away and I never make it to that either. As for almost meeting Peter, I get it. I wouldn't know what to say either. Though perhaps two words with a heavy question mark : "New Album???"

It was a very fine post Zenrider - no need to be ashamed of liking what you write! That PG moment at Womad was surreal because it was so ordinary in almost everyway. . . It's only 100 miles away but going to Womad nearly kills me - three trains, a bus and all the stairs, platforms etc inbetween. . . and then the final trek across the fields to find a spot to camp. I think it must be worth it though - my 21st this year!

Hello there - you two are doing a grand job here. I had an update email this morning - not sure why, but I've popped in for a coffee and brought some brownies with me. No WOMAD for me this year mainly due to financial constraints and despite reports of wet muddy weather I missed it very much. The first year I went was like that and I enjoyed it! Hope it was worth your epic journey Mr Beef. I would be the same with PG. Great that he is still so involved with WOMAD and attends most years. The old chestnut re a new album. An album is such a effort these days I imagine with so much else to distract him but there does seem to be some impetus now that he has got the band involved. Just want to see how his mind is working, musically speaking.Hope springs eternal!

Duddy!!! Brownies! Duddy!!! And yes, Beef has been wonderful company. Thanks for the kind words and shared optimism. Have fallen short a bit on timely birthday wishes, but have been trying. As for WOMAD and such, there often seems not enough time and/or money sometimes. Should the suspected album appear, hopefully more people will venture into the pub. There are two particular astronomical events involving planets lining up in October, that one may suspect are of an interest to Peter. One event involves two planets, the other three. So, hopefully, sometime in October we'll be enjoying some new music from Peter.

I think it will be late 2016. Or early 2017. Am pretty sure he is working on it this year. Mostly in his studio in London thusfar. And then again, it could be several years, as he is known for taking his time. But at least he is producing sounds :-)
I had the same odd experience at WOMAD. Was sitting in a car (working, waiting) looking at the passing crowd and saw a man with a buggy passing by. In the back of my head a voice goes "that man looks a lot like PG". Ik look again and realize it is him! Right in the middle of everybody and nobody seemed to notice. Part of me wanted to jump out of the car, chase him and... And then I though "Well, I am working and what to say or do indeed. I did wonder since then where he camped (if he camped) since I worked at Camp WOMAD (posh camping) and we had four huge Airstream campers on our camp site. I never knew who was in three of them. Might have been...
Ah well, had tremendous fun at WOMAD anyway and been at RW again a couple of times. Yes, my summer was good... Doing it again next year.

Iebie, what fun seeing Peter with, and I'm guessing, one of his grand kids. Good seeking you here too.
Peter was this Fridays featured artist on WXRT, a local radio station again this week. Not normal for them to repeat an artist several times in the same year without something in the works. So, I'm still thinking this year. The planets are aligning just for the occasion. Or is the occasion aligning for the planets?

I'm imagining those buggy wheels made a certain squeak. . . PG thinks. .. "Mmm. . . " that album that I thought was complete 10 years ago is going to need another complete overhaul. . . another five or maybe 15 years. . . what rhymes with squeak? Queak? No, that's not a word!

You are probably right, just got the email announcement for the latest re-release of his first four solo albums. Doesn't he realize what we really want is one new album? Wonder if people stopped buying his re-releases he might actually give us that long, long hinted at new works album? Still hopeful, but....
