I think I remember a few times on the old forums people grumbling about there being too much jazz at WOMAD. But I think there is not enough!
Quite often there will be world-jazz groups, and that's all good. I would like it if there were more 'conventional' (if still progressive!) jazz - Snarky Puppy a couple of years ago were great, more please! I've not heard anything by The Breath so far (it's a new project) but three-quarters of them are the Stuart McCallum trio, plus an Irish singer, maybe they will give me some of that jazz vibe I desire.
Nevertheless, what are y'alls thoughts on jazz at WOMAD?

Definitely more Jazz, particularly the wonderful world fusions, along with contemporary. Portico Quartet was such a wonderful Womad moment, I may even be so bold as to slot SU:M into a magical Womad Jazz moment too

I would say I'm generally not a lover of jazz, but SC has previously pointed out that there are many types of jazz....I just don't like the cacophony showing off type. If there was more of that type, I'm sure that I could find something else to listen to!

Not sure if I have a say, but there is some proggy jazz, that perhaps some jazz fans wouldn't consider jazz?
There's a band called Hood Smoke, or is it one word? over here, not sure of their home state, that comes to mind. They are pretty good too.

He was one of my highlights at CP two (? or three?) years ago, even the soundcheck was sensational - one of the bands who don't care about 10 or 10.000 listeners, they just play, because they love to play And the CDs are just great! Edit: Oh dear, it was 2012, time is definitely moving on

Booker T isn't jazz for me. Jazz-funk, maybe, funky soul. Good stuff. Would be nice to have Sonny Rollins. Or if we could've had Ornette before he left...

Wouldn't mind a slot for the wonderful Sarah Gillespie on Ecotricity perhaps, early afternoon maybe.
I voted the same (if anyone is interested!)
