Went on an extremely good short course last night, by our local Fire & Rescue Service, called "Biker Down", lasted about 4 hours, about what to do to save live when you come across or one of your mates your riding with is involved in an accident. Covered stuff like pressure bandages, CPR, removing helmets safely to free airway etc. So good, if you don't have these sort of courses in the US you really should spread the word and encourage the authorities to do it. It's a win win all round. www.kent.fire-uk.org/your-safety/road-safety/road-safety-for-bikers/

Oh and I've applied to be a Blood Runner, don't know if that's what you call them out in the US but it's bikers that run blood and organs for transplant between hospitals. Nightime and weekends, and although they ask for bikes they are very adamant you should not break the speed limits even though peoples lives may depend on it So I applied and they have asked if I can be trained in a couple of weeks and then be tested that I remember the training Could be fun

But ZR we need some pictures of your new bike "Fun" Working on it, gonna try to get a picture of it with the local Giant. Bought a new mesh jacket. Still in jeans, but lets face it finding things to fit frumpy old ladies is tough. It's bad enough they think black and pink with the recent addition of purple are the only colours we like. At least the arm sizes are getting better. The horse world has the same problem thinking adult women fit in clothes made for 13 year olds. Anyway, off for an evening ride, have to get some bugs on the new jacket, now that I've got a few things sorted out.

No pics yet, but there's some mud on the tires. and manure and, ah, who knows. They put some gravel at the creek crossing at the barn for the trucks and tractors, so I got my pant leg wet, because it was a little squirrely getting across, but so far she's stayed upright. The gravel roads to the barn have fresh gravel, so well, it's hard not to take to the ditches and ride on the grass where it would be more stable. Even so, it's not too bad, just can't go too fast. Weather permitting, for the camera mostly, will try to get a picture by the Giant, um, er, today, after I sleep a bit. Not sure of the network in the states, but a lot of them use helicopters, because of the distances here. On my flight back to the states last May, I met a nice young lady from Germany that was transporting an organ (I didn't ask specifics) to Nebraska. BTW, they don't want you to drive crazy fast, because both your life and the person who needs the blood/organ is on the line...but you already knew that...

Sorry to sound dumb but what's The Giant? Is it a Giant Redwood? Re the clothing the big ones over here, if your doing serious, all weather good protection biking, are Halvarssons or Rukka, I went for Halvarssons, not cheap but half the price of Rukka! Very very good protection but not everyones cup of tea. Have you thought of "Biker Jeans"? They are made from "Kevlar" rather than denim, same material that Fire crews use and the clothing used for guys using chainsaws. They also give good protection (allegedly) and have pockets to insert knee armour etc. But importantly they "look" like jeans so you don't feel odd looking when off the bike. Perfect if you want the "jeans and leather jacket look". I have a pair by "Hornee" (why call your company that.another kind of smiley) Australian I think. www.helmetcity.co.uk/ladies-hornee-jeans/ There are many other makes, I just got Hornee because they came free with my new helmet Glad you have muck on the tyres Looking forward to a picture or 10

oh nearly forgot, apparently "Pink" is the best Hi Viz for being seen. It is the only colour that doesn't often happen in nature, Hi Viz yellow for example if riding in the fall with yellow and orange leaves around you, and a low sun behind you and Hi Viz yellow is brilliant camouflage! Although I am sexually confident I am not convinced Hi Viz Pink is what I am looking for though

Not the pink that was on those. Apparently, the marketing guys for motorcycle wear think soft pinks and purples are what woman who ride motorcycles want. Perhaps, the ones that are passengers do, but the rest of us often think outside that box. I bought the one that was black, white and grey. Now the black jacket I bought in Lerwick, since I left mine at home.... has deep hot pink highlights, but it was on 50% off too and I liked it. I have nothing against pink, just sometimes it's nice to have other options. Of course, the chopper types, pretty much only do black on black. Granted it's slimming, but ever so boring after a while. Of course, the Harley people will throw in a little Harley Orange from time to time. Jeans are better than shorts. Too many here seem to think riding their bike is the best time to work on their tan! Haven't seen it too often, but the guys that I've seen with sandals on, just wow! but it's the ones in flip flops that just take the cake. And will likely one day pay for a surgeons new car. Can't say I've never rode in shorts, probably not smart, but it was usually a run to the store and back, not to go on a ride. Still usually threw the helmet on. Painful as skin grafts might be, there is nothing to fix brain damage.

giants are awesome! The sheep skin is not perfect, but better than without. Probably not going best choice if I go somewhere really muddy. It's the sheep skin I used with the Honda, so it is a little flattened out.

Finally ordered a proper rear luggage rack. Now the wait. Then to decide how to outfit it.
