Can anyone help please? I would love to know who this mystery lady was. On Womad Sunday at 11.00 ish in the morning a wonderful session of singing was taught and performed impromptu and from scratch from a gathering group of passers by led by a wonderfully inspiring musical director but I'm sorry to say we missed the very start and don't know who she was - mystery lady. She wasn't in the programme or advertised anywhere - she told us this but I didn't catch her name. She started with music from the Lion King and then moved on to a mixed selection of African music and some simple classical/ secular pieces all four part harmonies and rounds it was FAB! Did you hear it/ join in/ enjoy?/ run away horrified (hope not) THANK YOU mystery lady, would love to know who you are.

Hi Ig, glad you liked it. All I know about her is that her name is Elaine. She does a one hour choir Saturday and Sunday mornings at 10 am. It's how I started singing, she's fab and the songs are really good and varied. She's never in the programme but you always get about 50-70 people turn up to sing. Jambo Yoti also goes, she may have more information.

Oh thank you bloohair
I've been to Womad for 8 years and I've never encountered this before.
What a treat it was

We have seen her there for years - I am sure she used to be in the programme in the past . She always attracts a huge crowd. Never joined in (I am tone deaf!) but often stopped to listen

Just had a look in the 2013 Programme and you have "Arboretum - Sing Out With Elena - 10:00 - 11:00 - Start the day in harmony with others. Come and sing a cappella songs from around the world in the arboretum with Elena Winch."

Her name is Elena Winch and I have her contact details. She's running a full day workshop in chippenham on Feb 25 2017. I am trying to drum up some more support for it as we didn't collect emails at Womad this year. Search Sing Out with Elena on Facebook to find details.

Thanks for the heads up, amybee, and a big warm welcome to the forum too I'm retty sure JayCee used to sing with her in Chippenham a few years back. We're usually away for the last weekend in Feb, but will keep in mind if not. Rendrags, maybe Ruby would like, depending on the day?

Unfortunately not SS - Ruby has had to give up her singing for a while, due to her ME. She has sung with the Malmesbury Abbey singers for the past few years, taking part in the Christmas and Easter concerts, but she's had to give it a mss this year. Hopefully she'll be able to resume soon.
