Too many chairs, not enough drugs.

Too many chairs, not enough drugs. Although I was not there that has to be the best six word review of a festival I have ever read

WAY too many chairs and the teens next to us were busted.

Well with a combination of the new 'clock' lay out (which meant longer walks), a broken foot & a womad partner with sciatica we needed the chairs.
As for drugs I took loads, all prescibed by the GP. Were at the back and sides but to counter the clock layout I suggest drones to enable the less able.

In the past I've made the same comment, but these days I need my chair because of extensive arthritis. I don't know how I managed the pain even though I could sit down. Unfortunately this year my knees and back constantly ached. Maybe that was due to a lack of drugs? Methinks jimhxn is being a bit of a devil's advocate

For the first time I took my child's chair into the arena. Low chairs and back rest seats are less obstructive than full size chairs and save on back strain. Evenings I leave it in my tent, more standing and dancing at night, chillin' in the day.

to chair or not to chair
Cal took her chair sometime but stood for most gigs and only use to rest before bands came on
Del can't sit on the ground due to kilt related issues so he was on his feet for most of the weekend and by Sunday afternoon his feet were very sore, a bit of rain would have helped soften the ground
as for the drugs Del had a great supply of caffeine and alcohol so we were very happy

I take a chair (well a little stool) again due to arthritis in my hip ( we are all getting old in body but not in mind and heart!) but only use it at the back of a stage or to sit on before an act starts. I did find the standing hard on the feet this year - worse than normal. As for the drugs, I came with supplies of nurofen plus to be used only when the pain got too much and the red wine wore off!

We've both had our rucksacks with little stools attached for years. They are so easy to use. We usually head for the back of the audience so we can sit when we need to. We both have back problems and wouldn't be without them!

We both have back problems and wouldn't be without them! I've often thought about attaching stools to my backpack as well, particularly as it is good for clearing space at the bar. However, I can never guarantee they will always be firm enough to tie to the backpack with any reliability or duration..... would appreciate knowing how you achieve it Jax

It's too expensive. . . and I can't afford it anymore - I can't be the only one. . . which changes the audience. It's now around 800 quid for the two of us - tickets, travel & spending money. I used to think of going to Womad as a cheaper alternative to a holiday. . . I know things have changed, but in 1994 a weekend ticket was just 40 quid. . . and I'm sure was more fun then than now - all for about 74 pounds in today's money. . .
