Just a little bit of chronological juxtaposition. . . pre-digital Womad photos are hard to find - found these from the early 1990s at Reading after much searching online a while ago. I wish I'd taken some from those days. No tents half the size of a house or gazebos all over the place - just thousands of tents almost pitched on top of each other. Note how you could just park & pitch wherever you liked!I was glad to see the end of that - I almost got mown down in my tent one year by some bikers thinking of going for a midnight ride around the campsite!!!

. . . and here's the early 1990s Womad main stage at Reading - small old style speaker stacks and those hot summers!

those fecking chairs at the radio 3 stage in Reading At least it looks like they were sitting towards the back, behind the flute-canopy/mixing desk. It's the aggressive sitters (I know it sounds like an oxymoron) that are the real problem. . . "sit down!" Once a woman was actually tugging at my shorts(!) to get me to sit down. . . I knew it was an act (the wonderful akli d) that would have everyone up within seconds and so. . . she soon stood up, along with everyone else. Jeez they have a nerve.

Here's a weird pic of sunrise over the Siam tent captured from the webcam and mucked about with by a free app called Prisma
