They would fit right in at Shambala!!!! It was really quiet where we camped, family field even with kids in it. Re Womad, you would think that Womad stewards would show their faces to sort the noisy folks out. Surely they can hear and see from those watchtowers? Not that I want to moan because it's really horrid trying to haul a lot of gear if you've arrived on the shuttle bus, but I did see folks camping in park and camp with no vehicles and no-one approached them to move on. I guess once everyone is pitched up they're just left to get on with it. I'm glad the noisy f*c*e*s weren't local too, but SN16 tickets may have been sold on to others who don't live in the area and in reality if they have the correct paperwork passed on from the seller who would know? Two of my pals met a guy in Molly's Bar who reckoned that he owned a house and land nearby and could get tickets for them cheap next year.

jax2000 did you notice how many people had tents next to their campervan? My friends are in campervan field and have offered me a lift next year but my new tent is a tad bigger than the last so wondered if I'd be allowed to pitch next to them? I hope so, would solve a big problem now we have another child in the family and no room in the car for me. ps just seen this on Womad website: 'The pitching of tents with campervans is discouraged for safety reasons, however if your group is too large to fit into your campervan/caravan, you may pitch one small two person tent immediately beside the vehicle'.

Hi Purpledawn. No, we didn't see any big tents next to vans last year...certainly not around us. The camper van pitches are marked out in the same way as in Park & Camp and we filled ours with the van and a 2.5 x 1.5 awning tent (about the size of a 2 man tent I'm guessing. Next to us was a caravan who had his car unhitched and next to it. I suppose you could try and pitch next to your friends but you might encroach on the nrighbours space.

Hi PD, the year before last, my friends Rob a Sarah took their caravan and camped in presumably Meadow Park? or something like that. It was right out on the edges of the site. it was in a natural "bowl" of the land and so had no view but was very quite and peaceful. Anyway we visited for a cuppa tea and I am sure tents were parked next to campervans and caravans, because they asked if we wanted to bring ours in next the caravan as they had loads of room, even with their canopy. I would imagine, it is like in Park and Camp, if you don't go outside of the marked area, you are fine. Iif you do make friends and give wine to the owner of the territory you are invading and all is fine. Usually, I am sure it is like life, if one is friendly then a blind eye is turned

I think Meadow Park and Camp has some caravans and campers, it had the year before last as daughter was there too sc but I don't think that's the same area that my friends will be in - they were nearer the house as far as I know. I might have to just grab a lift with them and ferry my tent to main site somehow then. Hopefully my other friends & daughter can help by bringing the rest of my stuff. Where there's a will there's a way

The two tents opposite us who partied all night last year until security was fetched were WOMAD staff.......

Sadly, rude campers are not exclusive to music festivals.
Although the one time at the Flamingo campground in the Everglades I was warned there was a large group setting up to party on a Saturday night, which as long as they didn't try to steal or damage my property, I wasn't really bothered with. Sometimes people need for blow off steam. As long as it's not every night. Anyway, storm blew in and flooded them out. They didn't even hunker down in their tents or cars for the night. Gone before I even woke up. The next day and following days were beautiful. So, perhaps instead of blowing off steam, they really needed to work on their karma?

True, Zenrider.. we have found that the Forest Holiday cabins we use for quiet times away began marketing themselves for party groups too a couple of years back; ugh, we thought, but it turns out to work quite well as the parties generally start in the hot tub before lunch time and are done, or at least very much toned down and taken inside by 10pm; everybody happy

Well, the way it works for us, Purpledawn is that we have a silent hot tub (without the blowers) to start the day, sometimes it is still dark and starry if we're travelling to meet the sunrise, and then another after our dusk walk through the forest and while our meal is cooking. If it is snowing or the sky is clear or there is a bright moon behind the clouds, we'll have another silent one or two late at night...... I'm guessing that's not quite what you heard! We may be getting it wrong, but are very happy!
