Given that early birds are on sale very soon (16 Nov) and given that we have just bought our very first tent which had a lovely time at a Purbeck Festival and which is very excited about going to Womad, we are wondering which park & camp to choose. Given that we like our sleep, no longer like to stay up too late, but do like to get up early, we wondered if Meadow Park & Camp would be our best option. We know it's a long walk but we never go back to the tent during the day anyway. We had a shelterbox tent last year and had problems with a group in the (non shelterbox) tent opposite partying all night so we want to be somewhere quiet this year. Anyone tried Meadow Park & Camp?

Hi Helen
I would recommend the ordinary Park and Camp nearer the main site. We were there last year and had no problems with noise at all but I think I read that some people had folks with a sound system camped near them? We got there early and bagged a pitch nearer to the walkway and not far from the campsite gate. It was perfect for us. You correctly say that it is a bit of a treck which was the main downside for me at Meadow Park and Camp, but if you don't go back during the day it will probably be fine. My daughter was in Meadow Park and Camp the year before last but she had a poorly toddler to contend with so maybe it just seemed worse than it really was to me.

We'll be in Park and Camp again, despite the experience with folk playing shit music at full volume from their car.... trusting Womad will have listened and made a note to enforce the "no amplified music" element of the ticket conditions. We tended to nip back to the tent now and then; especially when H was getting changed into his light gear, though he's decided to have a light free year next year so he'll be able to stay in the arena more. Still nice to be able to quickly nip back if you've forgotten something or want an extra layer or a hipflask refill or a bubble wand refill or whatever, and is also closer to where our Womad friends pitch which makes visiting easy, which is why we won't be plumping for Meadow Park and Camp; lovely as it looks though. The offer of help pitching will stand wherever you decide to be, Helen and Steve, though you seem to have encountered and overcome most of the probs in your inaugural pitch at Purbeck festival

We always chose ordinary P&C purely because it was nearer to the arena. Meadow was also at the bottom of a slight hill and my lungs don't much like inclines!

We have done Meadow Park and camp the last two years. Very quiet, big pitches, no loud music nearby. Toilets are rarely crowded.

Tried to post twice and an ad. (the brit method) appeared when I pressed post! so have have put ad blocker on to post this. Yea the blatant selfish 'couldnt give a $%&^'attitude really annoyed me, They were local and they left the kids all day returning later, they took up 4 pitches and their friends a 5th .Opening all doors and windows on their white 4WD, which they left parked in the fire lane, to bang out non Womad music. Part of Womad for me is chilling in my tent listening to the music from the arena- couldn't hear it! One of the girls peed on our hippy friends tent ss. Need an acid etching kit for their windscreen with the stencil " &%£! off to Download". or a surcharge on SN16 tickets! This is them trying to put one of the many tents up, I deleted the 4WD pictures about a week ago but this was still on my phone. Attachment Deleted

The people with the loud shit music travel overnight to get to Womad P&C gate for 8.00 am, DT; they aren't local; I chatted with them when we went to P&C three years ago, but have been blanked since as I think they thought I had complained about them and their amplified music that year. I hadn't, though I felt like it - I was more concerned by the fire lanes being obstructed and the fencing being moved and reported that. I know our hippy neighbours were greeted with the sight of a naked female weeing on the grass nearby; I didn't know their tent had been weed on though, or that the female was from the amplified music group; I thought she had joined another party who were in P&C for the first time; maybe they expected Womad to be similar to other festivals they had been to, but discovered that it is far from so. We'll still be P&C img next year - you too, DT? Everyone else we met around us were lovely

Need an acid etching kit for their windscreen with the stencil " &%£! off to Download". Please don't send them to Download DT... unless you're hoping that a metal audience will be a lot less tolerant of them

Thanks all. It is SS and DTs experiences this year that have made us think about Meadow P&C rather than ordinary. Still undecided!

Glad to hear these idiots aren't 'local' - I wouldn't want to be in any way associated with their sort!
