Have been checking out Yegna after the Daily Mail has successfully stopped aid funding for these 'Eithiopian Spice Girls'.   Typical male dominated right wing press running a story and campaign to stir up their readership emotions.  Really, we should have been proud of a project which incorporated these young singers to promote women's rights to education, vaccination and preventing FGM.  Hopefully the project is now well enough embedded to continue despite a reduction in funding.

would love to see Yegna invited to perform at WOMAD this year.  proud of what British Aid funding can achieve, apologise for the narrow mindedness of Parts of the British media, learn about the important message they are spreading throughout their country and most importantly enjoy their joyful music.

I don't know Yegna mikey but the DM's whole purpose is to focus narrow-mindedness into prejudice and hatred - it makes me think of George Orwell's 1984. Let's hope Yegna can make their message and music heard despite the evil Daily fucking Mail - makes me feel sick every time I see someone buy a copy.

I can't stand the DM. However, I'm not sure if investing direct with a band is the solution to promoting women's rights in any given country. Not sure why this band. Where would it stop? Other bands in other countries. It goes without saying bands like these should have the opportunity to spread and message abroad but there needs to be a good infrastructure within the country that bands can record and produce music in the first place.

The way the DM has jumped onto this story for their own political agenda is a disgrace.
