Hope the full moon finds everyone at the Full Moon Pub happy and well.
An extra greeting to all the new Full Moon Pub members that have joined, but haven't quite joined in yet.
If you haven't found time to listen to the bit of WOMADelaide that is available to us, find some, it's worth it.
This side of the pond, I am coming along with my Geo Tracker project. Not the cool rag top version, but the 4 door version suits me just fine. Might not have mentioned it, but since VW is buying back my TDI (part of that emissions thing) I needed a backup vehicle, for my backup vehicle. At least, until I decide on my next commuter vehicle. Then I have to decide which backup vehicle to keep.
Have found buying a project vehicle in the winter was not the best time to do so. Didn't really have much choice, as I thought the buyback process from VW would progress faster. Yeah, OK, I have mentioned I'm a pony, right?
Since this winter has had unseasonable patches of warm weather, I've tried to take advantage of that. Much as I've had a few moments, I'm pretty pleased with my bargain vehicle. Yeah, it has some serious rot issues here and there, but thankfully none where it matters structurally. OK, one fender may fall off eventually... but not for a few years I'm sure and the strut mount is in great shape.
First was changing the fuel filter, which was immensely successful, which set me up for the next project... Struts and shocks. Which turned into a side project of some wiring/pin repair on some electrical. Better during one project than driving down the road. OK, still a pain in the butt and still not done with the shocks. Might have done that, but we are back into a cold spell. Did get the Struts done the last couple of weeks. Due to some serious rusty bolt issues and not having the right cutting tool for the bad bolts, it took way longer than it should have. Just happy I am experienced enough that when buying one replacement bolt, I buy them for all the bolts, not just the first one that gave me a problem.
I'm no mechanic, but I am mechanically inclined and like a good repair manual. Too bad they don't seem to exist, so i do with what I can get. Did make one error, but will see if I got away with it, or not... missed that I needed to support the passenger side knuckle, so the CV axle came out. Sigh, got it back in, but will have to see if I didn't create another project for myself. Rookie error, what does one do? Anyway, shocks will have to wait until next weekend or the next, depending on the weather. Of course, doing this project leaves one to wonder why it hadn't been done years ago. Wow, just wow! Risking ones life to save a few bucks, just makes one wonder... When I get a chance I will post pictures of the repaired parts, because wow. I did get the electrical done, so took her for a drive and, well, might not be done but...
Beyond that all is as well as it can be in the now. Ponies are OK, though I really need to get my Vet out for Zen's teeth and time for a good grooming. Shedding season has started! Too bad work interferes so much with the important things.
Recovering from a flu bug that floored me last week, but doing much better now.
Beyond that, all is as well as can be in my little world.
