It's ok SS..missed you but life takes over sometimes!! talking about the 2 minute beach clean..taken off...thousands of people joining in..about 40,000 and doing it internationally as well, also in other areas..parks, forests, mountains..having an effect.has set up 200 beach clean stations around the country. Scale of problem enormous world wide..risk of strangulation from ropes, biggest problem when microplastics enter food em..enters chain.cetaceans eating vast amounts of plastic, albatross chicks full of plastic so can't feed, fish eat them and once in food chain...we all consume them. Communal litter picks..lots of benefits..become social events, set up a positive frame of mind..making a difference, if not in a group can post on Instagram, face book, Twitter..get reactions from others..encouraging and feeling have support. have to get message not to drop litter..put big message re recycling on all bottles..encourages people and does change behaviour. 11th June..National 2 minute Beach Clean Day.. more events/ information.

Jays very active..are they fledging? 2 left the nest and on branch next to it...one moved right away from the nest further along the branch..followed by the other. One settled back into the nest..much more room now. Brett thinks it'll be a little longer - feathers not quite ready yet.
Squirrel goes up tree behind the chicks. Chicks doing a lot of wing flapping. Would love to see their first flights.

Parents will bring chicks food once they have fledged; for a little while. They like to stay in the same area as other kites; a loosely communal bird.
Red Kite seen in Cornwall.

That chick already knows how to find its way to Africa.... clever little hatchling.. they will be flying soon. Three broods isn't unusual.

Quite promiscuous in our terms - each have different partners for each brood.

FLatflies lay dormant in pupaete state in nests so will infest successive broods.
