OK a tough call but interesting to see your top selections. For me one of the newly introduced act went straight to the top because D'Gary is in the ranks.
1) Toko Telo 2) Mamadou Diabate & Percussion Mania must have watched that womad link more than any other and can't wait to see them. 3) Msafiri Zawose mostly cause I never saw his father play and looking back on the old programs its a big regret.
not to say Im not totally excited about the other acts but some are more accessible than my selection.

At the moment my top three are Leyla McCalla (I could have just put Leyla McCalla, Leyla McCall, Leyla McCalla but guess had to put two others) Maarja Nuut (saw her at Bristol and looking forward to seeing her again) Oumou Sangare
Would have included Emir Kusterica, after all he made one of my favourite films - Underground. But have crossed him off my list to watch. Was disappointed at seeing his strong support for Putin but hey, let us not bring politics into music. Now seen that he will be performing in The Crimea at Yalta this month. That is just too much, is that music or Supporting the annexation of sovereign territory.

- Alsarah and the Nubatones
I've wanted to see her live for years now, but always been in the wrong place at the wrong time. - Parvathy Baul and Somjit Dasgupta
I had no idea she ever played outside India or France but have been in awe of her music for a long time, so it's a great opportunity, I think. I have never heard of Dasgupta (and the WOMAD website provides no information), but in the picture he is playing a sursringar (bass sarod) which I have never seen live before, so should be a treat. - Khmer Rouge Survivors
I am not a fan of Ian Brennan and his ways of working (very neo-colonialist, pushing Western cultural hegemony, all the worst things about the 'world music' industry imho) but I can't argue that the musicians he brings aren't usually top-quality. And I love the bluesy quality that Cambodian music has, but I've never seen any traditional Khmer musicians, so a good opportunity for that.
Special shout-outs to Oumou Sangaré and Ifriqiyya Électrique, who would have made this list if I were not going to see them later in the year as well, so I ruled them ineligible. Still gonna see them at WOMAD too, clashes permitting!

Have to say I don't really have a top three this year, maybe the Fado singer would be in there. I hope to spread my attendance to as many stages as possible although I suspect I won't spend too much time at the Open Air as per usual. More electronic stuff at Bowers for me this time maybe

Sorry, Grey, I'm being lazy - just ripped off the ones I gave three stars to on my list and haven't whittled down further, though I know Afro celts and Shye Ben Tzur and the Rajastan Epress would be in my top three. Afro Celts Noureddine Khourchid & the Whirling Dervishes Officina Zoe Project Adrift Shye Ben Tzur and the Rajastan Express Taiko Meantime It'll be interesting to run this thread again after Womad to see what was!

I don't know......
I love Jamie Smiths Mabon, Eliza Carthy and Afrocelts...but I have seen them all before and will hopefully see them again so I am concentrating on people I haven't seen or heard of before as WOMAD is all about discovery ....so....
Junun and the Rajasthan Express...been listening them a lot and they sound great Alsarah and the Nubatones Tom Hickox
oh, and Trad Attack. And Dom Kipper. And Bokante. And Trembling Bells. Is that more than 3? Maths was never my strong point

Fabulous workshop and Mamadou knows how to play to the crowd both musically and as a sharp witted comedian despite not having much English. .
