Womad V's Glastonbury

Never been to Glastonbury, but I'd prefer Womad any day

She won't go back to Glastonbury but she is going to WOMAD

Been to both about 6 times each.

Size - "Is it important?"
Glastonbury - Massive and and a lot of hard work, about 2 hours to walk from one side to the other
Womad - Big but pleasantly manageable

Music - Hey, variety is the spice of life

Glastonbury - Everything goes, from a bit of Punk, to Classical, to World, to Middle Class Twats with acoustic Guitars singing that their Dads don't love them
Womad - (IMHO), World, Jazz, Ska, Neo-Classical and a bit of funky punk

Attendees - Oh Fuck we're sooooo Cool

Glastonbury:
- Middle Class White,
- Middle Class White Kids who know they are loaded working for the big "4" accountancy firms and wear "Dreadlock wigs"
- Middle Class Mum's and Dads reliving the days they went to Reading and Knebworth in their youth.
- Frustrated House Wives, bored with life and into smelly sticks and rocks
- A lot of complete twats
- A Lot of People who Love Music.
- A Lot of People who like the idea that other People will be sooo impressed that they survived Glastonbury 

Womad
- Middle Class White,
- A growing number of Middle Class White Kids who know they are loaded working for the big "4" accountancy firms
- Middle Class Mum's and Dads reliving the days they went to Reading and Knebworth in their youth but not pretending that they aren't.
- A large number of really cool people who know they are a bit silly but real and really don't care and love each other for it, because they're human   
-  A Large number of people that Love Music
- A Large number of People who Love Freedom

Been to Glastonbury quite a few times but it's far too big now and the crowd isn't the same. I worry that Womad might be going the same way in as much as it's become sanitised since it left Reading. I've said it before but I liked the fly-pitching hippies and the all night party vibe at Reading that's lacking at Charlton Park. Molly's Bar isn't as good as the old drumming circles that went on until the early hours or the pop-up parties that were all over the site.  As a friend of mine said recently, Womad don't want real festival goers. Anyway, I'll shut up now, you've heard it all before from me. Roll on 27th, it'll soon be 31st in the blink of an eye.

Womad: You can turn up on the day and still get a ticket!

Loved Glastonbury last year but my experience was tarnished by the referendum result so would like to go back at some point.

However, I have no immediate desire to return unlike WOMAD.

It is bit unfair to compare the two festivals as they are completely different beasts.
