2005 was my first one. Then I didn't go again until 2008. Been each year since so far, except for 2015 when I didn't have enough spare holiday time at work

1990 then 1991. I took both boys and came down with a bunch of friends to Reading. Was hot, hot, hot both years and the boys were quite young 6&4, 7&5. Had a break until 2002 and I think I've come every year since. The boys are now older than I was!
Most years have been good weather apart from 2007 and 2015.
I remember the Drummers of Burundi that Hootdrummer mentions. There was also a Korean dance group in the sports centre at Reading who were incredible.

Reading 1994. Didn't really know much "world music" and never been to a festival before. Couldn't find anyone else who wanted to go anywhere but Glastonbury, so I went alone and Womad and I have been inseparable ever since. CP is nicer for camping space, but miss the Reading vibe (see PD's posts)... except the dry dusty air - it did something to my nose and I'd always end up with a nose bleed... or two.

Being pedantic ☺ but one of the last WOMADs at Reading (2005) we had rain all day on the Saturday and only stopped when Jimmy Cliff appeared on stage. I missed the start of his set as couldn't leave Nitin Sawney until he finished

Crumbs, was it?! Trying to remember - ah! Hold on, yes! We had a great big Gazebo and about 10 of us crammed in it. I remember being a bit cold and have learned to dress better.
I think we missed a couple of bands then.
Some of those friends don't go any more and one has passed away. It was his Gazebo.

...think my first was 2004. I remember being allergic to the Reading dust :-( I remember Antonio Forccione and Damian Dempsey and lots and lots of new things I had never come across before :-) ...and coming home with a DRUM...my first proper musical instrument! ... the rhythms in my head didn't stop for weeks and I was totally blown away, and have never been quite the same since (in a good way) we are going to see Antonio Forccione at the fringe this year and we wish WOMAD would have him back
