Daara J had one crazy 'you had to be there moments' with PG in 2007; it just worked. I was one of the Looooonnies waving the glow sticks at the front.

This already looks like the makings of a classic line up.

Daara J had one crazy 'you had to be there moments' with PG in 2007; it just worked. I was one of the Looooonnies waving the glow sticks at the front. It was fantastic, wasn't it! That mud-ridden evening was one of my very best all time Womad highlights and Deepishthought and I played the CD often, and always on the way to Womad - fabulous stuff! Thanks for bringing it back!

That song, that moment, beyond amazing. I met him at the begining of the tour at The Eden Project. We were in The seed sculpture and couldnt leave due to a cloudbust so I talked to him for 10 mins ( to the exclusion of the band Im sad to say) that gig is where I met the Loonies from the Full Moon Club. Alice Cooper was banned from the UK so the first big gig I ever went to was Hawkwind, with Lemmy, performing in Bournemouth. As I have said to SC on Facebook 7by7 and sonic attack are still very special to this day. Thro' work I have met quite a few performers and held the guitar on the front of Brothers in Arms but there aint no substitute for when a musical moment occurs- You can't create it, it is like Alchemy there and then.

Lots of unfamiliar names in the line-up announcement, so lots of research to be done over the coming weeks. I missed Womud in 2007, so didn't get to see Daara J - they look and sound rather special!

Jim, what have I missed? We need you here!! Also, I think I will be steering clear of 'Daara J Family'. Daara J they ain't. Their albums after Boomerang really fell flat when they weren't a trio, and if Faada Freddy is bringing any of his solo stuff in, that's just for the worst (wishywashy a capella cover versions and bad gospel). Also recommend Gaye Su Akyol and Pixvae. I've heard unexpectedly good things about Federspiel too. Has anyone mentioned Leftfield yet?

Leftfield is a must see as it takes me back to when was I was doing alot of work at festivals and mostly Trance and House. Told to F off by the chemical Bros as I have said on here before, They were right. Good times, usually all nighters which was a downside.

Well, I now have 20 picked out with either one, two or three stars or an R for reserve. I recognised Hanggai as I scanned the list fervently for Grit Orchestra and Afro Celt Sound System....... please, Womad, c'mon!! Just seen this. I had a reply from Johnny Kalsi to a comment I made on FB asking if Dhol Foundation would be at Womad and he said 'Womad don't like us anymore', so I doubt ACS will be there this year. After their successful 2017 tour, it would be great if both were on the line-up on the Open Air stage wouldn't it?

That would be fantastic - not least because we might stand a chance of finally meeting doon the front! A 9pm slot. Saw ACSS & TDF at Colston Hall last November - raised the roof and brought the house down. Not sure what has happened with the Womad / TDF relationship, but a fresh start might me nice for eveyone.
