Ok thanks. Not ideal. May do both in order to make sure we have hydration but both your points are valid and need to be addressed

Water, a basic human right, or at least it was in the EU but don’t start me on that (ok I started it!) I’m sure the bars have a duty to supply water if asked. As for webby, extreme right that might be the big wheel going up. Nice to see toilets too but alas no pissoirs as yet. Bring on the pissoirs !

How does Womad water work? You buy a water bottle, the water bottle has microchip or something like that in it. You find a water dispenser and press the marked area on the bottle against the dispenser, which reads the microchip so it knows you’ve a Womad Water bottle and dispensss water. There are still free water taps with muddy patches. What upset me though was I came across a group of about 4 children trying to get water from one using their normal water bottles and failing. I of course used mine to fill theirs but I found it quiet upsetting to see a situation where you had to pay to allow children to drink fresh cool water. Many young families don’t have much spare cash, but no one in a civilised country should be denied fresh clean cool water. It was simply saying that the poorer customers should stand in a muddy puddle and drink water from a hose. Womad of all organisations can do better than that! I did this as well last year SC. It did seem so wrong.

Profit before people I fear.

Availability of water at all = third world problem That water should be cold, from a sterilised source, and served with a friendly smile = first world problem. Sad to see negativity before the festival, most years the moaning happens afterwards. Do people really think that Womad decisions are motivated by profit?

This is the first time I've had to spend $6 for a bottle of water at any event. Ridiculous. Over priced beer, fine, expect that, festivals don't pay for themselves strictly from admissions, but water? I had to pay $6 for a bottle of water at the Chicago Blues Fest! Beer was $8 and $9 for tall 20 oz cans Crazy, when the beer is almost more affordable than the water. Good thing it was a cool day. However, the Chicago Blues Fest is a free festival, so that's one of the ways they pay for it.
It is pretty rude to make the free water a mud pit. You would think they would be able to put a bit of a reusable metal grid of some sort around it. Even if people don't spill, if it rains lots of people congregating in a small area will make it muddy anyway.
Here's to affordable accessible water.

Reminder that there are taps with cool clean free water all over the site Sometimes they do become a quagmire, not this year hopefully if the weather stays dry. What annoys me are the people who create a quagmire by letting the water run without consideration for people behind them, ie the ones who insist on rinsing and emptying their bottles under the tap, and no thought to turn the tap off between water fills.....grrrrr

Looks like they put a screen around the men's urinals this year. Unless there is a sign out front people may not know they are there. Use with confidence, can't see anything low down on Webby.
